Its just not. With my other job it would be, and i would have no problem doing it. Its a different environment completely. Im not stepping foot back in the place once i let them know im quitting
They gave you an opportunity to work for them. At least give them the courtesy and opportunity to find a replacement for you. Do you not understand the backlash and problems it creates for a small business owner when an employee all the sudden up and quits?
If not then you are just being a douchebag.

Yeah you gotta think of it from the owners POV, if you were in his shoes and someone did it to you how would you feel.

Whats anyones take on this idea. Walk in, get my check from the office where he is gonna be, hand him an envelope and just be like here this is for you say bye and walk out. The letter will be like im sorry about quitting without notice blah blah blah but im going through from family/personal issues that I would rather not explain and I unable to continue working at this time. Thank you for the opportunity blah blah blah
if youre going to be complete and total douche bag then at least have the balls to do it to his face.

Pick up your check, and then tell your supervisor that you won't be coming into work anymore because you're too much of a coward to face the people you work with.

Working a job i dont like for 2 more weeks for people i dont really like isnt my idea of respect for myself. As for respect for my fellow man, not much has been shown to me from the upper employees in the last 3 months that is very deserving of my respect.

I really don't see why quitting a job on the spot is such a big deal.
People get fired on the spot all the time. Why not quit on the spot as well?
Most places could care less. They can have another employee tomorrow with todays economy.

So let me see if I got this right... The reason that you can't have the common decency to give the manager 2 weeks notice is because "it's just not an option".
Unless you've got something more substantial than that, I say man up, give your notice, and in two weeks you're off scot-free.
Don't be a douche Don't fuck up your work history this early in life over petty shit. And definitely don't just give them an envelope saying you won't be coming in to work anymore.
I recommend you seriously reconsider your situation and figure out a way to make giving notice an option.
You can even tell them that it'd work out better for you to not work those two weeks if it wouldn't be too much of a burden on them. The way you describe the situation, it sounds like they don't need you, and considering your work ethic (based on this thread), it seems pretty likely that they really don't need you.
So just level with your boss, let him know you're willing to work the next two weeks if necessary. But at least have the decency to be honest and talk to them.

I have quit multiple jobs cold turkey and it has not come back to bite me in the ass. To be honest, at 18 you are not really going to hurt your future job opportunities by leaving this small time company. You have nothing to worry about... just tell them the job is not what you expected and feel you need to try something different. It doesn't really matter what you say, you will probably never see any of them again anyway. Be a dick if you want. I kinda think about it this way. I was talking to my little brother the other day who is in middle school now. We ended up mentioning something about grades and I got to thinking. For my elementary and middle school years, my grades were pretty much meaningless looking back. Now that I am in college I have realized that only your performance in high school determines the college you can attend. You are in your "middle school" years of employment. They don't mean shit. Relax, quit the job and don't feel guilty.

lol how exactly am i messing up my work history?
I have another job, one i have had for alot longer, and i will continue to have after i quit this one.
So my resume will show no gaps in work, and will show no record of this job. I think having 1 job at a time is good enough for a resume/application.
Im pretty sure this guy isnt gonna stalk me and find out where i apply just to ruin my chances later in life. So im missing what exactly i am messing up. I dont need this reference. And i decided against the envelope. Im simply gonna get my check, then say to the manager that i am sorry but i thought could handle 2 jobs on top of class but its proven not possible and unfortunately i will no longer be able to work there. I'll give him time to say what he has to say, if he starts being a dick then ill just walk out. If im being a douche, i dont give a fuck. Too bad. Im doing whats best for me, if he cant find someone else to take over within a day or so in this economy, he shouldnt be running a business. Not to mention his other employees are stealing from him which could be sooo easily prevented but no because hes to dumb to run a smart business. Maybe if he wasnt a dick to his employees then they wouldnt steal from him and i wouldnt walk out on him. Fuck it. I dont care anymore. No one here or no one in real life will make me feel bad about this. Its a fucking job. I can get one and leave one as i please. Im not gonna waist 2 more weeks of my life where i could be more productive anyway instead of doing bullshit work for bullshit pay.
So thanks, all you guys on your moral high horses just gave me what i needed to quit cold turkey and tell them how I feel. I appreciate the help.
