Autoclavable bags- How thick?
    #10090685 - 04/01/09 10:07 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

I've been looking at making my own filter patch bags (because I can't find a Canadian supplier) and I believe I had read a little about bags on here.

Specifically I think I read here that the thickness of the bags had to be 3 mil, is this true? Many bags considered autoclavable for bio-hazard or other scientific purposes are 1.5-2 mil. Are these OK? I am suspicious that the thinner bags will not hold up to long term use that I and other growers who use bags require. If anyone has any helpful information on the subject or knows a Canadian supplier of myco-bags please mention it or PM me.

you will want at least 3mil.  Most commercial bags are 4mil and still get very pliable when hot.

Doesn't fungiperfecti.com ship to canada?  If not, go to the vendors page and I am sure one of them will help you out.

many of them ship to Canada, but the shipping is like $20+

You'll spend way more than that trying to make your own.  You want to use unicorn filter patch bags.  You can get them from most vendors, and the shipping is just part of the cost.
