Some finds
    #10088165 - 04/01/09 04:18 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

I found what I suspect to be Marasmius oreades in my yard today, can anyone confirm?

Also some suspected slippery jacks (poor photos I know)

I can't say on the suspect Marasmius, but I can tell you flat out, that those are not slippery jacks, and if they were by some chance...waaay to old to be edible.  I usually find suillius along with boletes in the fall in the PNW.

Hey Beege, those first ones aren't M. oreades.
And the second ones do appear to be Suillus species, I don't think they're slippery Jacks though.

ah ok, well its all good. I wasn't planning on consuming them anyway, just trying to get a fix on a species name.

I did end up finding a TON of Lycoperdon perlatum, a field full actually  and one shaggy mane

Can you say omelette?

(any conjecture as to the species of the first photo? I'm printing it now)

I'm not sure what it is, maybe a Hygrophorus or Hygrocybe.

Enjoy your omelette!

I would guess Hygrophorous, based on the gill structure.
It's definitely not

the gills were sopping wet and clumped together which is why I thought M. oreades was a possibility.
