Grow lots of mush outdoors

1) Grab contaminated casings or uncased bulk subs with wax paper on them 2) throw them outside 3)Pray it rains or humidity stays up. 4) Find mushrooms growing
Some mushrooms that grew between a tub placed on top of another tub
Mushrooms that grew under a tub placed on another tub

The whole yield. Felt like an 8 pound weight
Mushroom my wifey took a pic of.

The yield drying on a towel

a pic of what's not drying in the nesco dehydrator which is easily 1 ounce dried.

I hope I convinced you to throw your failed grows outside. These all had mites, but they'll die in the dehydrator.

Did you use an isolated strain or multispore to inoculate the substrate? Whats the RH where you live?

I traded C. duckie, username, for what was supposed to be panaeoluss. She sent me a cube print!
I grew it out, cloned it,
I still label it as Big Pan clone
Because it was a big (cube) that I thought was a Pan. I put to agar from master culture, then to jar, to bag, to 3 grain to grain transfers. Then to bulk.
I saw they had mites. Then threw them ouside. I will probably never multispore again. I don't have very good luck like everyone else does with multispore.
Maybe I should thank her for ripping me off.
In San Antonio, Texas, the humidity is always low, but it's been raining alot, so probably around 70-90 around the substrate from pooling water. The weather has been pretty cold (40-50) and it's April today!!! We had hail yesterday.

I heard of someone throwing their grow in the garage and cubies grew even in the dark. Some of these had trich, so when you hear that trich is natural outside and behaves different indoors, as far as mushrooms grow, and in my opinion, It's very true.

Wait, so if you just throw contamed cakes outside they'll grow? Without any horse poo or anything?
What about cakes that are just done producing fruits? Will those grow as well?
That first photo is really cool.

they grow even more if you mix them up with something. people usually bury it in a shallow hole - so the soil acts as a casing i would guess.

yeah, I'm spoiled, but we get really bad heat here. even mushrooms get sunburnt.

They should grow, but as RedDevil420 said, they stand a better chance of making it if you throw a soil or casing over them. It's not a big deal. Bury them or throw some dirt on top in a planting pot or other container.
Spent cakes have gone through their life cycle, so they may recover into the dirt or something and fruit again, but it's not something you hold your breath for. Cakes that haven't fruited stand a very good chance if you water them.
Water lightly once a day like a plant. Mine had the containers above and below and wax paper to hold in the humidity. They ripped right through the wax paper! I wouldn't have stacked them if they didn't have trich and stuff. But they still grew. Even with trich and mites.
I don't have a backyard. But I have a back porch in apartments.

Definitely. Water on dry days. Put a casing or wax paper on it. Check often. Hopefully you will get some.

You technically could but think about it outside is not a pasteurized environment.
Mother nature should take care of it.

Well most times mother nature takes care of it, she does what she does and it usually doesn't last outside.

The bulk casings I threw out had trich and it hasn't spread on them, weirdly enough.
You don't need to pasteurize, but I bet it helps, though only a little in my opinion.
Only pasteurization is necessary if your growing it indoors.
I bet I picked at least 10 dry ounces out of that.
I have 3 dry ounces so far and another approximately 3 ozs dry drying now. And it's not even half of what I picked.

I pulled up about 7 1/2 ozs dry so far. I estimate about 6-7 more to be dried still. My biggest haul ever.
It's gonna be hot.

I was definitely thinking the same thing. They are meatier, with heavy heavy weight. I wish I could grow them all outside. They are bigger than the ones in my greenhouse and they all came from the same clone. I think the lighting and colder temps make a remarkable difference. My GH is 150 feet cubed.
