My bags are straight rye nothin else in there. The coir idea sounds good so I'm thinkin about just spawing 1 of my bags to bulk to be safe. What's the difference in yeild gonna be if I spawn it to bulk coir like that and how hard is it gonna be to do. How easy is it to get contams that way?

strait coir is pretty hard to contaminate.
just do some more reading. or maybe use the search engine. the coir question has come up more than enough times.

yeah, as long as you don't put them in airtight or dirty containers they are unlikely to contaminate. Use tin foil with holes covered with micropore tape to cover them.
Here is large_dose's journal, check the ohmatic monotub and paseurizing coir teks. For pasteurizing you do not have to boil the coir in the pot of water, you can just dump the water on top of the brick. But if you just dump it on top you will have to mix it up so it's evenly hydrated.

thats the link that started the craze
wallyworld usually doesnt have coco coir.
hit up a nursery, or a pet store. make sure you get fibre and not husk.
the overall yield difference btwn the two is unbelievable.
thats why almost everyon that uses grain spawns to bulk

none of the cubensis need a cold shock.
once your sub if fully colonized, fruit it. you will already have the correct moisture content in it from b4 you spawned.
you wont need to dunk till after 1st flush is done

Very useful info. Thanks. I was worried bout the cold shock and the dunking as well. I've heard the amazons are quite potent does anybody have experience with these? Does anybody have a general idea of about how much spawn I can get out of spawing a 1lb rye bag with coir?

as far as i know, amazons don't have a more potent reputation; the cubensis strain varies very little in potency from strain to strain with exception to the orissa india strain. this is all from second hand knowledge tho, not personal experience.

Hmm well I've read that the amazons were first thought to be a strain of azures cus of their strong potency. Just wondered if anybody could validate that with personal experience

An mushroom potency can very from mushroom to mushroom grown right next to each other and that's BS about being a strain of azures....

excellent point; as far as consistantly tho, i've always been told that on the whole, all cubes are relatively similar in potency.....except the orissas. haven't found anyone disagreeing with that yet.

ditto. PEs can be bad ass, check my sig, but IME all cubes are pretty good. if potency is what u want then look up cloning and isolates, doesnt matter the strain then just good tissue samples of good fruits.

Alright so my bags are colonizing still but they seem to be going a lot slower than I've heard they should. I'm wondering if this has to do with moisture cus it looks pretty dry in there. Any thoughts? Does humidity have an effect on colonization? Are there any tips out there for speeding up colonization?
