Shelf Life? First grow questions.

Hey all, iv been here since 2007 and have always had an interest in cultivating. In a week or so im going to start my first grow but i still have a few unanswered questions.
First, heres the plan Stealth Grow: Orissa India Monotub Grain spawned to 100% hpoo Cased 50/50
Because of my inability to cultivate openly, i need to be very sneaky with this. I have a friend who is coming back in town for a week and she is going to let me order a spawn bag/spores from sporeworks and hpoo from tennstud to her house. I am ordering the substrate because i cant PC my own and this stuff will be presterilized.
Will the hpoo be fine if i order it at the same time as the spawn bag and spores? Im just curious as to if the hpoo will mold or go bad while waiting for my bags to colonize.
How long does a 3lbs spawn bag generally take to reach 100% colonization?
Its still a bit cold where i live, around 50degrees. Would the use of a heating pad help increase the colonization rate?
Will i need a heating pad for the fruiting stage?
Thank you so much. I'l lhave a grow log on the way asap.

Growing in your parents house is highly discouraged around these parts, let the flaming begin!

Im growing in my dorm, not my parents house. Things were cool around here until we i got a 4th roommate. Hes hardcore republican/anti-drug and we all hate him. He snitched to an RA when our friends next door were baking out their room. Our rooms within the dorm are separated by locked doors and i have a lockable closet.
I have been trying to make this work for a few years now, trust me, i have thought it out.

If you grow in your dorm you are probably going to jail regardless of who your roommate is,its not your place and they can look around when they see fit,I'm not trying to call you stupid so do not take it that way but you wouldn't be the 1st person who "Had it thought out" who ended up in handcuffs.DON'T EVER underestimate those fuckers

i live in a very privatized dorm and im not worried about getting caught. i know of two people who grow pot in the same dorms i live in. if they can grow pot, i can sure as hell have a monotub going on a closet shelf.
i appreciate your concern but i believe the risk is well worth the reward. call me stupid if you must, my mind is made up.
can someone please just answer my questions and not criticize my decisions.
thanks all

your hpoo should be fine. they usually send it in sealed bags that keep it from going bad, but you can throw it in the freezer just to be sure. Spawn runs can take from 1 to 2 weeks depending on your ratio. you shouldnt use a heating pad cause they will dry your colonizing sub out. If you need more heat, throw a space heater in your closet. You want between 70 and 80 degrees pretty much the whole way through, with 80 being on the high side.

The little guy has heard that heating pads kind of suck. They evaporate all the moisture out of your jars. What temperature is it in your room anyway? If it is above 65F you will probably be okay. If not, look into using a heat bomb. A TIT would be better but it is not very stealthy. The little guy has seen a good design for a heat bomb using a fully submersible fish tank heater and a Tupperware container filled with water and a hole on the top (to put the electric cable through). Then you would put that along with your jars and a thermometer in cupboard or something.

everytime i see ppl discourage the use of heating pads directly under the stuff but i never see any 1 encourage having it in the same vicinity. like if its going to be in a closet and the pad could be in there whats the problem with just putting the heating pad somewhere in the closet but not directly on it or touching it. it should raise the temp in there somewhat warmer, and im sure OP has the heat on in his dorm so it should be regular room temp.

If you dont want to BS with shelf life, I would suggest just getting high mountian compost (hmc). Its a kick ass dung-based compost that will be perfect for your situation, and no worries about shelf life. Just look at some grow logs where people used that stuff.

well if you plan on using it as a bulk sub, it shouldnt stink, and most suppliers seal their bags of poo anyways so its not gonna get anywhere. I dont see why there would be an issue, but i guess its just personal preference...
