Mushroom Walk 3-29-09 Northwestern Oregon
    #10071411 - 03/30/09 12:18 AM (14 years, 10 months ago)

Went out for a mushroom walk today and found loads of polypores. Northwestern Oregon had a major storm a while back and blew down a gross amount of trees, bad for the trees, good for the polys. Here are a few of the pictures that did turn out while out on my walk today. I will be upgrading my camera soon, but here are a few pics that did turn out:

Here is the first nice poly I came across, not ten feet into the hike.

-----------

This is a unique one I found on my hike, no others were like it.

This is the same one on profile. Notice how thin it is.

Here is the environment it was in.

-------------

Here was a tree that had it's top sheared off in the storm.  It had more than forty polypores on it. The pictures don't do it justice.

-----------

Here are two pictures of the environment that I hiked in. The pictures don't show it but everything was wet/moist and growing something, the rocks, trees, even the sand had moss and lichen on it.

Hopefully I'll be able to return to this and the surrounding area every Sunday, that is when I'm not hunting for azurescens.

Cool polypore. Looks like shroomy habitat! Keep posting pics!

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.
