So does that mean you would see no need for breathing air?

Desire or not, it is very hard (although I believe possible) to get around the need for food/water.

the difference between a desire/need and a simple 'choice' is completely personal... one could do one thing and the other could do the exact same but they could be completely different/ opposite ends of the spectrum...desire to action/non-action:yinyang:

what do you think about...

when they talk about things they say things like your desire for same-sex friends is really your desire for a partner (opposite sex) and your desire for the opposite sex is really your desire for the ultimate...

Someone who is fully "enlightened", that is one who has achieved what the Buddhists call liberation, or Samsara, has no need for sustenance. I'm not sure if I completely believe this but I'm sure as hell not ruling it out.

To need is to want to consume, so to need is the opposite of to create.

I need warmth.
I create fire.

But is it always so simple?

I need love
so I create...

Certain things can't be controlled.

Yet if you chose to stop breathing, your body would die.

Where's the you, when the body disappears?

So what? My body dies all the time, that is how I can stay here for such a long time..

Do you need to live? Or do you create that need, by living? Or is need just that.. Need! A human made concept, no one even needs.. :p

I'd say we choose to live, just the same way as we choose to breath..

Samsara is actually the state of cyclic existence (death and rebirth of the fictitious self, from mind-moment to mind-moment and possibly across physical lives) which liberation (Nirvana) transcends.  Though there is a Kagyu lineage prayer that says, "Grant your blessing so that I will realize the inseparability of Samsara and Nirvana," on a relative level Samsara is not liberation.

I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

Correct. Got a neat picture somewhere, but I cannot find it. But this will do;
