Anxiety disorder?
Is he anxious that he can't fucking pitch anymore?

The team on Sunday also placed left-handed pitcher Dontrelle Willis on the 15-day disabled list with an anxiety disorder and returned the contract of left-handed pitcher Kyle Bloom to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Ha ha. What does he have to worry about? He's still getting paid. Reminds me of the old days when they'd put guys on the DL for a "sick bat". They always called it something else but everybody knew what it was.

To have him become that bad that quickly is amazing. He has such a enthusiastic personality that it must be torture for him to be this bad, however I hope they don't put him on anti-depressives or anti-anxiety meds, it makes me wonder if players use those and you never hear about it.

Yeah, it's pretty shocking.
He fell off a cliff.

Madtowntripper, on another note are you happy that Gregg is closing now instead of Marmol? How did the Cubs get him? Was he a free-agent or was Florida getting rid of some payroll?

I drafted Marmol for my Shroomery fantasy team and a few hours later Gregg was named the closer

I'm not sure how I feel about it.
I mean, Gregg has been lights out this Spring. 0.00.
But it's Spring.
And Carlos hasn't looked good since coming back from the WBC. He's hit like, 5 of the 10 batter he's faced.
So we'll see. Gregg, before last year, was really a very good pitcher. So we'll see if that was an aberration. If he does well, it will be another good signing by Hendry of a player another team thought was done or wouldn't amount to anything, i.e. Aramis Ramirez, Reed Johnson, Ryan Dempster, etc.
I hope Carlos doesn't let it go to his head. He had thought the job was his, and he earned it by his work last year. But if he's not the best man for the job right now, he shouldn't have it.

I read that post, I was wondering if you knew but I guess the news report came out later. Oh well, do holds have much significance in fantasy baseball?

Gregg still put up decent numbers last year. I watched some of his games and he looked like a much better pitcher than Marmol, I think he will do well.

Marmol was easily the best pitcher the Cubs had last year, in my opinion.
I really hope Gregg is as good as he looked this spring.
It's going to be a lot different for him pitching in Chicago. He will be in front of a full house every day and they will be on him if he doesn't perform.

A bad Carlos Marmol is better than a good Kevin Gregg. Marmol is just so much better than Gregg, it doesn't make sense to not make him the closer.

And thus Cubs fans become reacquainted with the pitching genius of Lou Piniella.

No, you're wrong.
Gregg has been lights out this spring, and Marmol has sucked.
There is no reason to think Marmol is suddenly going to turn it on next week because the games count now
If Gregg can't close, I have no doubt you'll see Marmol up there.
Gregg - 9 innings pitches, 4 hits, no runs.
Marmol - 8 innings pitches, 6 hits, 4 earned runs, 4 hit batters.
Tell me why Marmol should close?

I should of started a new thread on this, I didn't think there would be enough interest. I think your going to be surprised by Gregg robbyberto, maybe after April is done you'll change your avatar from Lilly to Gregg. And yes Wrigley is much different than playing in Miami with hardly anyone there but he's 30 and I don't think he will let the pressure get to him imo. Season starts in less than a week.

Lounatic Piniella has had Marmol for a few years now, right? Two things. Either Marmol never should have been anointed the closer, or, barring physical issues, he shouldn't have to be auditioning in Spring training. Look at the fucking sample size in practice games. Either way, both of the errors reflect on Dippy's handling of pitchers. Lou can be an excellent manager but his handling of pitchers is not one of his strong suits. He hates them and gets panicky.

No? Never having heard the man speak himself yet constantly hearing that letting Woods go made Marmol the closer tells me that somebody did it. Surely you are not going anywhere near arguing that Lou handles pitchers well. That's just nuts. Anyway, spanning the last two years and 170 innings of work he has been an extremely excellent pitcher. Ignoring that for 8 innings in practice is fucking dumb. He has been much better than Gregg.
