I do the following to sterilize mine..
1. fill a lil with rubbing alcohol.. shake up well.. squirt out...
2. get boiling hot water, suck up inside, and squirt out a few times..
3. suck up some water, and leave it in
4. wipe needle with alcohol, and cap up
5. store till cool.. use the water inside to make spore solution.
I have used this many times, and it works for me.. give that a shot..

well, which isnt in there? lol.. air or water?
you want to sterilize the syringe with water in it, bottom line... if you sterilize the syringe, and put tap water in it, then, well, you may have issues.. I have only done it one way, so I cannot say if it will cause them.. but everything points to that..
I mean, if you have water that is not sterilized, and you mix it with your spores that were taken under sterile conditions (of course), then you will introduce contams in your jars with your spores upon inoculation..

By which, he means fully aspirated (full of air)...expunge means completely erased.. which I assume the syringe is not.... especially if it can hold water or air.

are you re-using a syringe or have glass syringes or something?
the plastics come pre-sterilized as do the needles( of which I re-sterilize)...
methinks you all have glass or metal.

I boil mine, and one might as well leave the sterile water in at the end, that way if you need to use that syringe for spores or something needing water you are good to go, otherwise just squirt it out. It may save you a step.
If you forget to add air or something causes the air to go away during boiling or whatever, just get some sort of fire, squeeze a little water out of a syringe and just put the needle tip in the fire and pull the plunger back. NEVER SUCK IN AIR THAT IS NOT STERILE YOU CAN CONTAMINATE YOUR SYRINGE!

Ive always filled them up all the way. With some water in the bottom of the jars, they PC in. They push all the water out during PCing, then suck it back in. IF your not careful it will suck in air. Even if it is in a PC. I dont want air in my syringe. You can simply boil water, and suck it up in the syringe. Repeat that a couple times one after another.

I have PC'ed with both water in them and without water in them.... Why you ask?
Well it is all contingent upon what I am going to do with them.
The way I print is that I stick a cap into a 1/2 pint jar. After it prints I close it up with a jar lid that has a rubber stopper in it. When I want a spore syringe for trade or what have you I take one of the 10cc syringes that I have that was PC'ed with water and use it to get the spores into a hydrated state and then suck them back into the syringe.
What I do with my 60cc - 120cc syringes is just PC them with nothing in them. I use the larger ones for LC so there is no need for water in them.
I hope this helps

shit every post in this thread is a good enough way to sterilize syringes, and it does not matter if they are full of air or water when you are done pcing.
