British Music
    #1002575 - 10/29/02 06:22 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I love anything British and that goes the same with the music. I don't know many British musicians. I loved the soundtrack to" Lock, stock and two smoking barrels" and "Snatch". Old Navy plays this killer shit over the muzik. Any recommendations ?

Yeah, British music covers quite a range, you'll have to be more specific. Most people think the Beatles are good, though...

The Streets. Listen to The Streets. It's
as English as possible!

For maximum Englishness, what I think
when I think of super-English music that's
really English: Billy Bragg, Oasis, Blur,
Spice Girls, Tricky, So Solid Crew, Ms
Dynamite, Cornershop, The Specials, The
Jam, The Smiths, The Fall, Sugababes,
Van Morrison, Joy Division. Equals England.
If you only heard one song by all of them,
you would understand everything about
English people, basically.

the Streets lyrics are ok, but the rest is pretty lame.

The first time I heard The Streets I thought
it was some kind of English joke. But all
the people were telling me how great the
album was. So, I bought it and it's totally
genius. It still sounds like some kind of
English joke, though. But totally genius.

I downloaded a shit-load of The streets' music. Its ok, but I get a kick out of his mushroom binge that was reported in the new Rolling Stone.

I am looking for some techno. Or even thier Pop music. Anyone know what that shit they play in Old Navy is? That has a lot of British type funk/techno to it...

Get into the 00's for fucks sake. The british are by far and away the best producers of pop/rock/indie in the world. Especially Londoners - So never mind the Bollocks where all anarchists in the UK.

Back in the seventies there was the Canterbury scene, with Soft Machine, Matching Mole, Henry Cow..kind of mellow stuff for the most part, but pretty creative.

It is weird how so many great bands can come out of such a relatively small country. I mean we have our fair share of shit like anyone else but if you look back along the musical timeline, many of the great bands and artists seem to come from here. No dissing other countries of course, there are many great bands from all over.

Has anyone heard of dEUS? They're Belgian, but the guitarist is British.. great band. try downloading these songs:

Sister dew
Magic Hour
Fell of the Floor Man
Instant street (give this song a chance, it starts off a bit slow but the last 3 minutes rock)
Disappointed in the sun
Wake Me Up before I sleep
Little arithmetics
