Hey everyone i went out in the forest behind my house to scope out some areas because its mid 60's and been raining and i am finding an abundance of these mushrooms all over the place. help me ID them if you will. the pictures ive provided are what they all look like when in mid maturity.
Habitat: growing in the woods in eastern NC, on fallen rotten trees, from what i see they only grow on this certain type of tree, there is an abundance of fallen trees here 50/50 between the unknown tree and pine trees. this mushroom appears to only grows on the unknown tree. It is a very common tree in the forests of NC
Gills: white, once they reach mid/later maturity they become light pink/orange
Stem: average mature mushroom length is 7cm, 1cm wide, white, smooth, lines running up and down, solid, 80% of the time they are growing on the side of the logs so they are curled
Cap: avg mature is 6cm , light brown, darker brown around the edge and on the nipple, smooth, flat with a nipple in the center. when very young they are dark brown all over
Spore print color: PENDING! going on 3 hours now
Bruising: no bruising
Other information: it is fishy smelling when they are most mature

All mushrooms are edible but some only once.
Deer, bugs and slugs eat death caps all the time and they suffer no ill effects. Kills dogs though.

pluteus cervinus are pretty mediocre though, you probably don't want to feast on them
