a few questions, a few contams.

Mex # 3, Cobweb Right?

Millet, Quarts, happend to all my jars. used the ratio in the shroomery Faq's. I use a graduated cylinder. What's up with all the bubbles. It happened once i shook them once. 2-3 jars that have it have started to slowly recover. Spawned with millet/straw.

Here's someting i've never seen. It's Millet, Pr. What's up with this.

Thanks

i don't see anything that screams contam. the first and second ones could be mycelium. the last one looks like healty rhizomorphic mycelium. i'd wait and see what happens to all of them for now.

The fourth pic looks like it might have some bacterial contamination, but it might be just too much water or a bad pic. All of the others look good.

(stupid shroomery erased my big long post cause i went back to re-read my post and check out the pictures, but here it is, the short version)

pic 1 is definetly cobweb. i opened it and it has a big patch of it sittin on top.

pic 2-4 are just water and air bubbles. #4 is just one of the more worse case's. This happened to all my jars. Some werent affected as bad and are starting to recover. The millet is all gooey when shaken. I followed the shroomery's guidelines for millet using a graduated cylinder. can excess water be cured? i also used two different pressure cookers, in about 4 sessions.

Pic 5 is odd cause it's growing up in the air.

Those last two pics are 100% healthy mycelium growing. The rhizomorphs tend to grow in the air because the humidity is so high.

Those are what you want.

Im surprised that he first one turned out to be cobweb, it looked just like a light germination of mycelium.

Are you using tyvek or homemade polyfill filters?.  If your using tyvek you could take off the top lid so its just the band and the tyvek filter. That would defently dry it out a little for ya.

I'm using Polyfill. I do have filter disk's. you think i might be able to get away with replacing the lid with a filter disk. I think it might be worth a try for the following reasons

1. the jars are going to be crap if i do nothing
2. i cant replenish them for atleast 3 days, so might as well let them grow till i can get around to them.

well, what do you think?
