Will black lights work

Is a black light suitable for a light source.
It seems to be working fine but I can;t fuck these up.
Or I would cry and then go into some phase of denial, this just would'nt be pretty.

"Why would a blacklight be good? It has a completely different specturm from a natural light. THink about it for a second...you want something that gives off white light or natural light. Things dont grow from blacklights in nature do they?"

Why are you using a blacklight? Mushrooms use light as a directional only, meaning that the fruits grow towards the light, thats why if you have a casing in a transparent container and the sides of the container aren't taped (made opaque) you will get fruits along the side of you casing and container wall. I think (not sure, don't care) that I read mushrooms use blue light, I don't know the spectra of black lights.

Well guys here is the situation I am a newbie, as you can tell.
I'm using a fish tank with a homemade foam lid (like science project board) with some holes cut in it then covered with clear tape.
I just moved in this house so my mushrooms and my stuff are all in the middle of the floor.

I had a black light sittin around so I plugged it in and put it on top of the tank.Just for the hell of it (experimenting).
So now I know I'm wasting electric THANK YOU.

But I have noticed some bright spots in some jars that I can only see under THE LIGHT.  What do you think it is. Probally nothing but the inconsistancy is weirding me out. :smirk:

Didn't PF create an albino shroom by doing this.

Might be a cool experiment but i think it is generally not advised.

Use a blue spectrum flourescent light. It works great.

UV light breaks down psilocybin pretty fast too...
