First time Cambodian grow

Finally I got all my supplies, made a make shift glove box, and inoculated my BRF/Verm jars. This is my first grow and I cant wait to see my jars start to take off. While waiting for 100% colonization I was reading up and read some stuff about the Cambodian strain loving the heat in the colonizing process. Is there anyone out there that has any first hand experience with allowing the jars to get 80-85F temperature? I know if they get to hot they will dry out but I have been reading they love heat and they will colonize faster if warmer. Thanks in advance for any responces!

I've got some Cambo going with several jars of WBS. All I can say is that I have my incubator runnin at 78-80 degrees F and the shit is growing like wild fire. I wouldn't go above 80 as you will likely run a higher risk of contam.
I inoculated using a spore syringe and saw obvious signs of life in 4 days (2ccs per quart jar).
I've never done cakes before, but I'm sure the temp is similar regardless of the grow method.
Here's whay my first signs of life looked like at 4 days:

Here's what it looked like at 6 days:

Now here's where I am at 10 days!

I hope it goes well and stays well.
My point with bombarding you with all those pics is to show you that you don't need to go over 80. Actually many people on this forum will actually say "incubator? What for". Many just set their inoculated jars on a shelf at room temp.
I don't know enough to argue one way or the other ... but I can only show what I've done.
Good luck!

I dont think incubation temp is a huge concern. I've read that research that shows optimum temps for psilocybe cubensis is around 82 rather than the once thought 86 so I would conclude a range of 78-86 would be as optimal as possible. It's a bad idea to go over 86 lower is ok but 86 is the limit.
When I started I thought I read to shake may jars about 5 times throughout colonization, but that is WRONG. Shake once at 20-30% colonization and never again until you want to remove the grains from the jars. I've also found that the easiest way to break up the stubborn grains is to hit the jars on my carpeted floor but I use a solid layer of tyvek(no inoculation holes since I usually do G2G(grain to grain transfer)) and I don't use anything extra, just 1 solid layer of tyvek and 2 - 1/4" holes in my lids and I have never got a single contam yet. (100+ jars experience)
Good luck

So.... everything is done I inoculated my jars 7 days ago. Unfortunately I'm not seeing any growth in the myc. I have them in a shoe box at about 79F, 4 inoculation points, I Followed PF tek exactly as stated!
Today I took my micro pore tape off inoculation holes to hopefully help with colonization.
No smell, no obvious contamination, just some very small white spots hopefully this will grow in the next couple of days.
Any tips would be great fully appreciated!
I'm using a Cambodian spore syringe in BRF/Verm Jars....

I inoculated 9 qt jars with B+ spore syring 27 days ago and JUST noticed first signs tonight!
I fear that there may be contams too, but just to show you how long it can take. ALSO the B+ jars were my FIRST inoculations.
Since then I ordered 2 more syrings and 100% luck ... also considering I improved my methods.

Should I really shake BRF Cakes? I've been told not to do that.

I don't think you shake cakes.
Best to just leave them alone. You've got some time to wait.
In the meantime just order up another syring or two. Read, read, read. Try different shit. As long as you get growth in some way shape or form you can grow out that strain in some LCs or by transferring some mycelium into another jar.

DO NOT SHAKE YOUR CAKES!!!!! You will screw up your dry verm layer (filter) and get contams.

i don't think that will make a difference, and oops I was talking about shaking grain jars. definitely not brf cakes my bad. no shakey shake. when i'm waiting for colonization(in the beginning) i force myself to go 5-7 days without even peeking and that makes it seem like theyre going way faster than when i check in on them frequently. it's all about patience, but the first few times it's almost impossible not to get anxious. but soon you will be a pro so no worries. good luck

Point is, patients. If you're feelin froggy get more spores and do more jars.

Yea I wanted something to do while i waited so I'm going to try my first honey LC. Well my second, I did my first one yesterday but I realized some extra water got in my jars through foil so just in case I'm going to use my last 2 cc's of spores to inject into my honey water! Hope it goes well and I won't have to spend the $25 on another spore syringe....
I'm not holding my breath though!

Damn 9 days that seems really fast! sure they were 100% in the middle of the cake? I read that you are supposed to leave the cake for an extra week after you think it's at 100% colonization to make sure inside of the cake is done!
What tek and strain did you use?
any tips on quick colonization? Do you always get these quick colonization times?
Thanx for your help!

as long as temps are optimum there's nothing else i can think of to do for spores. definitely make an LC next time. it's well worth it in my eyes. it has many advantages over spore inoculation. it'll be a lot faster. i was intimated by LC's when i began, but don't worry they're simple after you do it once or twice. i wish i hadnt been scared of LC's when i began cuz i could've just nocked the LC up and rather than 10cc's of spores you can have 100's of even 1000's of ccs of healthy mycelium. when i order a syringe now i make 2 - 600ml jars(approx.) of water and karo(i use 1 tsp of karo per 100 ml of water) and after pressure cooking (some adjust to microwave sterilization) i inject 1/2 of the spore syringe in each jar and usually sometime between 2-4 weeks i have 1200 or so ml's of beautiful mycelium. or enough to noc up approx 2400-4800 jars of brf cakes. (sterile technique is essential for LC's, IMO)
