Hey, i would go for grain to grain in a glove box. You know you jars are fine, but with a LC you wont know if its not contamed until after you go a test jar. And damion is a great asset to the communtiy here. He knows his shit. Im not dissing LC, i love em and have many going at all times, I mainly use grain LC's but i have some multi spore LC's also. But it is a risky thing to try with only one syringe. shoot me a pm some time so i can offer something. Also heres the link to my Grow i got going on to help a friend who is just getting in to growing. check it out i have mono tubs and buckets in it. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/9794686

Yea I have been following your grow pretty close. Thanks for the LC tip. Sounds like it is going to be g2g for me then. Instead of making a glove box, I will probably just use a clear tub upside down slid partially off the edge of a countertop. Man the wait is killing me. I just want these jars to get done so I can G2g and get these things going!
Ill shoot you a PM. Appreciate it.

Well, here is an update. The two jars were about 25-30% done yesterday, so I decided to shake them up. Today, I see white growth starting out everywhere Took pictures but they didn't turn out well so I just said screw it. The jar with TYVEK is going a bit quicker than the jar with polyfil, so I am making the rest of my grow with tyvek.
I am currently in the middle of PCing nine rye jars. The rye soaked in water/coffee overnight, was boiled for about 10-15 minutes this morning, then strained until dry, and loaded into the jars, and I am pressure cooking right now. The two that are colonizing right now are going to be the parent jars for these nine in a G2G. Only thing is, these two parent jars will not be fully colonized for at least a week or so, so I plan on saran wrapping the tops of the PC'ed jars until I am ready to do the G2G. Will they last like this until the parent jars are complete?
I plan on doing 2.5 quarts of spawn per bucket, doing 2 buckets, and using 4 qts in my 27 quart monotub.
Thanks folks, and to DOODLE.

Hey, sounds like it's going good! In my experience, leaving the jars with the saran wrap will be fine, but maybe others have had different experience. Good grow so far, and it seems like you are getting into some bulk with the monotub and buckets... good shit man

Hey thanks CubieMcCuberton. Im looking to have a good harvest that will last my friends and I at least until next summer when I can do it again! I only need to wait about another week for these two parent jars to finish up colonization, so I think the saran wrap will keep moisture in there.
Thanks for stickin along!

UPDATE 04/15/09 Well I just finished up the G2G. I only used about 3/4 of one of those parent jars! I guess I will just have an extra colonized jar on my hands I really hope I dont have any contams. I did it all in an upside down storage bin on the edge of a counter. Worked decent, but I would want a bigger tub if I were to do it more often. Used a lot of alcohol so that should help combat them.
Wish me luck! How long before I start to see growth in the new jars?

sounds like all is going well happy.
And they are 1/2in holes in the buckets. I tried bigger and smaller on a few but i like 1/2 inch best. they are small enough to not let to much humidity escape and big enough to provide the FAE like a mono tub. i don't open em to fan or mist at all.

Yea. Sorry its been so long since I've been on here to update. I have been getting pretty damn busy with classes and finals and everything here at school.
Well the G2G was a perfect success, and I only used 3/4 of ONE parent jar! Guess I have an extra jar to throw in the coir! They all came out fully colonized, no signs of contam. They are currently in the fridge waiting until I am done with classes and can get back home for when Ill be able to start the actual buckets and tub!
I used the 27 quart Sterilite tub upside down on the edge of a desk as a still air glove box for the G2G. Very shitty situation considering the top edge of those bins are not even, so it was rocking all over the place, and its a pretty small bin to start with! Got the job done tho. Excited to head back home and dump these jars into the Coir!
I will probably updating again in about 2 weeks when all tests are thru.
Thanks everyone!

Well its been far too long since I last posted on my bucket/tub grow. Ive been busy with my DMT extractions and kind of forgot to keep this updated!
Well, I believe that it is time to introduce the two buckets and the tub to fruiting conditions. They have been wrapped in blankets with no FAE and they look fully colonized. Ive decided not to case for fear of contams. Here are some pictures. Let me know what you think. I am about to drill six 3/4" holes in each of the buckets at sub. level. I am also about to drill two 1" holes on each side of the tub. I realize I should have drilled holes before colonizing, but I was unsure where the substrate level would settle to, so I decided to wait.
I have a timer in my closet so it has 12/12 lighting, and I am about to put a timer with a fan in there so the fan comes on once every hour for about 15 minutes.
How does this sound?
Here are the two buckets. I love the shower caps. I have doubled up dark brown paper on the outside of the buckets to prevent side pinning.

About time! Looks good. IME it is helpful to push the shower cap as close as possible to the substrate in buckets if you don't have a casing layer, like just skimming the surface, and do an air exchange a few times a day by pulling the caps up and down like a big air pump. I like the walmart style sterlite mini monotub too. I am interested to see how this goes. Good luck! Keep updating

UPDATE 06/06/09 Well finally I am seeing some results!
This is the first bucket. It is the slowest of the two buckets and the tub, but there are some pins popping up. Pretty soon my new Snackmaster will be packed full.
Here is the second bucket. It is doing quite well. I am noticing a lot of side pinning and pinning near the air exchange holes. I have the outsides completely covered, so light should not be an issue. It may be due to moisture that they like the sides?
And here is the tub. I can tell already by the stem that these are going to be real fat mushies. Bigger than my biggest from PF tek, that is for sure.
Cant wait to see the final product!

I know it is tough to tell but the bigger mushie in the second picture is already almost 3" tall, with a real fat stem!
Check out my little mutant shroom in the third and fourth picture! Weird huh?
So what does everybody think?

Looking damn good amigo. Since you posted this almost three days ago I would assume you have harvested or are about to. I want to see the final product! And, like you said about these mushrooms being bigger than your biggest from the PF TEK, that is absolutely true. IME even the largest PF TEK shrooms are usually half the size of the average mushrooms you get from a monotub of bucket grow. I think you will be surprised by some of the monsters you are gonna get from this grow

Thank you mucho!
I have pulled 4 of the bigger/faster shroomies off.

The two on the bottom are partially dried, the two on the top are fresh picked.
Total weight of the 4 of those is somewhere around 65-90 grams wet all together. Looking for potency so I harvested as soon as I noticed the veils tearing!
I am pumped to say the least! And the buckets/tub are pinning like CRAZY! I will upload some pictures of them when the batteries charge for the camera.

Thanks man!
Here are some more pictures!
Not really sure on the best way to dry these? Should I cut the stems off from the caps and then cut the stems in half for most efficient drying? I dont want to loose any potency though. I am experimenting with different methods.
These first pics are of my dehydrator minus one 25g wet shroom about the same size as the biggest one in the picture.

Here are a couple pictures of my tub as of an hour ago.

Here is my slower bucket. It seems to have a higher pin count, but I havent harvested any off from it yet.

Here is my other bucket in which I have pulled 3 or 4 big ass shroomies from, all being about 6" tall and about 20-25g wet.

I have never tried fresh shroomies before, but I might have to if they keep coming like these are!
