I need to make pf jars hibernate
    #1003430 - 10/29/02 04:21 PM (15 years, 9 months ago)

My jars just began fruiting...some have not begun yet, but about half are producing nicely.  In exactly 30 days I am going to need to shut down the operation for 4 days.  That means I will need to dissemble the terrarium and  make the cakes disappear into a bag or small box (perhaps back into their jars?).

:crazy:Does anyone have any bright ideas about how this can be done with as little shock as possible to the cakes?  You understand the problem, I hope..

Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

Once I put a casing in a black garbage bag, and used that as the fruiting container. It worked fine. Just make sure you can keep the right conditions, then it has to work.

Sounds like moving day.
I would reccomend just growing the cakes you have for the 30 days, harvest what you can, then toss em. 10 days before your move/whatever, start some new jars, and put them into a fruiting chamber after your 4 day break.

Good Luck

make some honeywater mycellium syringes from the tissue of your fruits to save future downtime and (especially) to ensure uniform, high-yeilding, future crops(if you're not already using an isolated strain). Use your worst fruits;) and store in the oven:D.If they can't be stored in a fridge(relatives visiting?/moving?) a cooler would work.
