The original PF tek (circa 1995) had the jars in boiling water for one hour.
Many of us did it this way with good success.
It still works great. You can do it that way if you don't have a PC.
If you do have a pressure cooker, by all means, use it.
One hour at 15 psi is standard.
Good luck.

Thats plain out wrong.
If steam sterilising in a pot with a tight fitting lid. 90 minutes. If pressure cooking at 15 psi 60 mins.
Some have reported success with 45 minutes. I have always went 75 with 100% success.
With steam i wouldnt go any less that 90. Water boils at 212F, at 15 psi its much higher so you dont need to cook as long. Sterilisiation times depend on the temperature for a period of time. The higher the temp, the less time you need.
For example, if your pressure cooking grain at 12 psi, you usually have to cook an extra 30 minutes. Most people experience higher contamination when sterilising for shorter periods than recomended in tried and tested teks.

I did some coir at 30 mins for a project and got some lovely trich growth,
do it for 1 hour or more, longer is always safer.
I have one of those stupid bobbing pressure cookers and its annoying as hell... so I crank up the volume on the TV and play wii for an hour or so. Just have to check on it every 15 mins or so to make sure the kitchen isn't blown up.
MAKE SURE URE FREAKING LIDS ARE ON UPSIDE DOWN or at least have holes in them...

potatonet lots of bad info in that post, IMO.
coir is completely unrelated, so ignore is coir for 30 minutes comment. Longer is always safer until you dry up your jars and they won't sustain myc growth anymore... As far as PC's go, you're supposed to turn it down once it starts rocking, it should be very quiet when it's properly heated. And the lids always need holes for GE and inoculation so I don't get your last part.
Better info would say:
I do mine for 90 min at 15 PSI, then once my PC is depressurized I remove them. I have not had a single one contaminate this way and the water content has been perfect with this method.
