"elite 801" aquarium pump

can i use said pump to pump CO2 out of my aquarium ? i talked with a friend , and my friend said that it would be better to use this pump to pump fresh air into tank via air stone ..........

thoughts please !

my opinion is that it's better to have pumps outside the humid environment than inside. so you would pump air in instead of CO2 out. air stone would act as a filter or you could filter the intake.

Your friend is correct. Pumping O2 in will be much more effective. Any air that is pumped into the chamber will push out (in theory) CO2 in the chamber, unless of course your chamber is hermetically sealed.  :wink:

If you carve a hole in the bottom of your terrarium the O2 will push the heavier CO2 out. Cover these holes with some type of filter material.

Is there any way to get aroud using an air stone? I made the mistake of getting high before I went to Walmart and forgot to buy one, so all I have is the pump and a tube. I suppose I could drive the 15 minutes back to Walmart and spend $1, but I'll admit I'm pretty lazy.

Yeah, just submerse the tube in your container of water. You should be fine.
