find a business that primarily deals with, and gets paid in cash

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

Here's a good list:

*Goto a Home Renovation store early in the morning, driving through the parking lot, write down the numbers of small businesses from the vehicles you see parked in the parking lot. Someone with time to learn is often more than enough to get an under the table paying job. Now keep in mind that because you don't exist as an employee of the company, they may use and abuse you. They may hold out on you when you're expecting a pay cheque but still want you to keep coming in to work for them. Have your own vehicle + cell phone, as they don't want to work extra hard now because you don't have your own set of wheels. If they hold out on you too long for a pay cheque, remember you have no rights. There are always alternative ways to collect.

*Food delivery, STAY AWAY from it. Vehicle mileage + wear&tear + gas + underpaid + treated like garbage.

*Find a distributor of DVD movies, get them for $1 a piece. Find a partner, setup shop at a local flea market and sell them at $5 a pop. You could easily make up to $8K a weekend.

*Learm how to play poker. Not just how to, how to run a game. Learn how to collect a rake from a pot. Learn how to deal cards. Find underground clubs around you and play a bit until you're trusted and offer up that you can deal for them if they need someone (maybe $200 a night in your pocket). If that fails, get your own club up and running. Dealers are free, they just collect tips for the most part. A rake can make you from 0-2K+ a night. Here's the basic math. $1/2 No-Limit. Rake: 10%/pot up to $6 (normal clubs charge up to $10)
At 30 hands an hour, collecting an average of $4/hand, running 2 tables, creating a rake of $240/hr, 8 hours gives you $1920.

See now that all are weighted by risk. You can go around being some helper for a small flooring installation company, learning something. If they know you don't know squat, they can make you do all the leg work making maybe $10-15 an hour, anything less than that is not worth it. I'd try to squeeze as high as I could to $20/hr, but it's difficult to argue with a tradesman where another guy could replace you for the price of peanuts simply becuase they have experience.

Either you're on unemployment insurance or whatever, but just remember the money you make on the side is not real money. You cannot declare it as income towards a house or whatever because you're obviously not being taxed for it.

The latter two points are more in the high risk margin of ideas. Every risk has its pros and cons. Consider them before you put anything or everything on the line.

Horse meister is absolutely correct, it has happened to me and many others, if you don't know the employer you almost certainly will get screwed, and you have absolutely no recourse. You need to find something that requires limited initial capitol and yet allows you to make money rather quickly.

For about twenty bucks you can buy paint rollers and brushes and borrow someones ladder if necessary. Put a free add on Craigslist for affordable painting, or deck staining, gutter cleaning, leaf raking, household chores, trash removal, pool cleaning,(you fill in the blank) in nearly any of these the homeowner will pay cash.

MOST IMPORTANTLY be on time courteous and definitely go the extra mile. After I've done work for people I've painted their address on the curb and asked if they wanted me to wash the outside of their upper story windows as I was already on a ladder there anyhow (both of these I did for nothing). This brings you priceless positive word of mouth advertising that you can't even imagine. Competition is tough Right now, give them a reason to recommend you over others.

Good luck

The old timers are easy going and youll prolly make $10 an hour...
does that help? that $ rate was for 1996 it might be more now.

you know rich old people's boats. They're nice and prolly enjoy the attention! As long as you're a pleasant enough a nice person I'm sure they'd appreciate it!

Wait tables at a non-corporate restaurant. Remember, working under the table means no gov't bennies.
