Mites on plants are a little easier to control for me than mite on mushrooms. On plants, I use my secret recipe of 50% methylated spirit and 50% water with a dash of soap. Wet both surfaces of the leaves. Kills them instantly. A week later, I get the survivals with insectide with active ingredient dimethoate. Just keep alternating so they don't build up resistance. Hope this helps. Forget about predatory mites etc. It works only on large scale. And pyrethrum is for killing insects. Mites are not insects. They are arachnids.
Cheers, cutemushie

Yeah, I had to use Black flag brand pesticide with three or four active ingredients. I had to bomb it twice in a few hours to get them. Some survived the first blast.

Yes, household insecticides also work because they also kill spiders. But I tend to suspect that they do a little more damage to the plants. Contrary to popular beliefs, most household insecticides have very low toxicity to humans. You will need to drink many many cans to die from it.

I went in my GH today and found them in VERY scarce numbers, but in ALL my trays except two. I threw the infected outside, put the two trays in a GH by themselves, in a different room, and removed my pets, before BOMBING the room again. I placed the fogger in the 5 X 5X 6 foot greenhouse., not outside like the directions say. It doesn't kill them if the fogger is placed even directly outside the greenhouse to move inside the GH by air diffusion. It has to be placed inside. THe brand I use is from WALMART. it's Black Flag Shame on me, I know Active ingredients:
Tetramethrin 0.150% Permethrin 0.375% Piperonyl Butoxide 0.750% Triethylene Glycol 6.330 %
Thjis kills them, but the mites can come back if you're not perfect.
Some more tips I've learned.
REALLY inspect every tray for any white dots that move. If you see them, immediately throw them outside to die. get it a week later and clean well with warm soapy water and reuse.
Mites are primarily a bulk pest, not usually found in agar unless some of your dishes are harboring them, then you should expect that all of them are contaminated.
If a tray in your GH has them, chances are probably all of your trays will get them soon. Check all trays twice a day if you leave them to chance in your greenhouse. Expect to spend 10-30 minutes each session, looking for small white dots.
Just cause I have them in my bulk doesn't mean my cultures for trade are contaminated! Don't PM me saying "don't trade, cause your stuff has bugs." My petris are in a separate space, not with my bulk cultures, so back off!
