There have been a few subs being found now, not sure exactly where.
Nothing wrong with a discussion on something as long as it constructive.

Yes we aren't quite at those conditions yet Anticipation and excitement will always keep you wondering though I'm going to be in the area and if I can sneak away I'm going to go for a little scout I'm on this thread to expand my knowledge as much as I can I'm just lacking experience on the field as last year was my first year searching, and I failed. I've always enjoyed fruits from others effort and knowledge of location But I'm determined to find my own patches with the limited trips I can manage, and the funny thing is I just want to find a nice little patch to do me for the weekend. I'm about the experience while you are in the wilderness camping, I'm not concerned with bringing home with me. All well and good having shrooms wherever but something special about having them in the mists of the Forrest in the fading light and round a campfire

Check the places around town that put out woodchips. They are just as good as going out in the bush.

Well fellow shroomers, I am glad to announce the season is beginning! Not sure if I am the first to post about a find this season but i would like to note the date regardless via this post for future reference. Don't get too ahead of yourselves just yet! But I have just found a few subs saturday night, albeit they are not fully matured, and as such have left them to do their thing, however, i have picked 3 of the 20 odd i saw in a very very small vicinity just to prove that they are on their way! I would never usually pick a sub if the veil had not yet broken, but due to the very limited number i saw (usually i would see hundreds-thousands at the same spot during peak season, i wanted to take a photo to post here as i believe this could be one of the earliest finds of the season over the past years? and had left my phone a hell of a walk away back at my car so took the few with me. Dw, i ate them, none went to waste :P. So, they are certainly on their way! However i'm not going to make the 3 hour trip again personally until there has been a decent downpour and they have had enough time to mature, i'd suggest to others to do the same. *been trying to upload this photo for a fair while with no success, having trouble compressing the image, if anyone can assist would be much appreciated.*

It's been pretty dry recently, didn't expect many to be surviving although I did expect a few to try and grow after the two days of thunderstorms
It also looks to be dry for a little while, hopefully we can get a week of rain soon.
I think if everyone is concerned about these spots becoming too popular maybe we should use this very thread to promote the information on how to safely transplant mycellium, so that inexperienced pickers who are reading this thread trying to find mushrooms in WA can go down, prepare and make their own patches in safer locations

^^ Very on board with this idea, was even thinking about taking some old cakes down to bury in a few spots.

Agreed! So maybe we can start off with people who are unable to grow myc themselves, what's the best methods to utilise the stems and just spread while they are on the field?

Cardboard pasties are the go.
Olive has a tek somewhere, but basically you put stems in a folded piece of wet cardboard in a half open bag. Then stick it under rocks or bury it once it's colonized.
It's pretty hard to fuck up.

I've heard of great success coming from paper towel first layer then cardboard? If you are wishing to do a spot, I'd like to know how many stems to put in, how many buries in one area. Let's say you wish to plant as many spots with your haul as you can. Just for the sakes of maximising the spread. X amount on this spot, before going to the next spot.

Anyone ever had luck finding actives north of bunbury? i basically live in a pine plantation and every year the entire place is carpeted with mushrooms but never looked into if theyre active or not.
Surely if they were it would be a pretty popular place as its like less than half the distance from perth compared to the golden triangle?
Just had 2 days of rain so ill be keeping tabs on what pops up, ill post photos when i can.

Hey Perth peeps!
I am a noob hunter, and actually stopped all together, but some orange mushrooms have popped up outside my window over the past week of rain and it would be lovely if they are psychedelic.
I live in Lesmurdie, it is a little more cold and wet up here.
They are growing in part shade, wood chip in my native garden.
I have taken some spore prints- sort of a dark green/purple. They dont seem to bruise any colour except a darker redish colour. The Gills are a greeny brown colour.
The ones in the photo below are fresh and young, they are starting to go a darker red colour and and some are staring to turn up at the edges (sort of like an inside out umbrella).
Sorry if I described anything incorrectly or have not provided certain information- Please let me know if you need more information to help me I can provide!
If they are the correct type I am happy to share with anyone who can help me ID with certainty
Thanks so much!

Hey everyone!
Im a bit nooby, but I love mushrooms, not just the psychedelics but all of those squishy lil wonders!
Anyway, Im not into hunting much but these popped up outside my window- just wondering if anyone can help ID them
live in the perth hills, so its a bit cooler and wetter up here.
-they are growing in wood chips in part shade in my native garden -creamy gills on younger, green/brown as they get older - slightly upturned edges on older caps and darker red - the spore prints are a dark green/purple colour - can't see too much difference in colour when bruised, just turn a slight darker orange colour
any advice or info and I would be happy to share if they are fun kind!
let me know if I can include any more information to help

They look like Leratiomyces ceres. They're not active any way.
