Any tech savvy people here? A printer/scanner emergency!
    #10013459 - 03/21/09 12:11 PM (15 years, 10 days ago)

Brought my cheap ass printer/scanner (Epson DX4850) to my girlfriends dorms. Her laptops CD drive is broken - can't read the CD that comes with the printer. The Windows XP she runs does recognize that a new hardware is added, but doesn't recognize the device as a scanner. Do I have to download the Epson Scanner drivers/program somewhere? Please help me, I need to to get this scanner working, I'm drunk as it is, but I don't want to be an ass and fail her, and she needs to get some work done. 5 shrooms or karma points or whatever you want, guys.

Yeah, I know, I'm retarded. Thanks for reminding me...

What type is it? Try typing the brand in google and seeing if you can d/l the software from the website.

I can only find "printer drivers" on Epson site. It still does not scan anything.

Couldn't find anything useful there. This is one of those "all-in-one" printers.

What do I have to install to get this shit scan things?

You might try one of these downloads...
http://esupport.epson-europe.com/ProductHome.aspx?lng=en-GB&data=vRaxNXeC8zhVZw3hQ8LJ2cIg4qTVNi2mSrtg5DDTmPIU003D&tc=6

I'm not exactly sure which one you might need but they are for the Epson Stylus DX4850, which I believe is the right one.

"TWAIN is a standard software protocol and applications programming interface (API) that regulates communication between software applications and imaging devices such as scanners and digital cameras." according to Wikipedia.

Heres a download link for TWAIN: http://www.twain.org/downloads.shtm

I'm not really sure if it's needed. It's also a lot easier to help when in front of the computer in question so I'm trying my best ha
