The tip of the "greenberg" (pictorial)

Well i took this pics just to demonstrate how a cake, showing only a relative small contaminated area on the surface, can be all contaminated on the inside. This surelly hides many risks. This is why, if you plan fruiting a contaminated cake you should check the inside by digging the contaminated area. WARNING. If you ever do this, please wear a mask due to health hazard. The contaminated area.
Diging a little bit more, an ugly cave.
The big mess, practically half of the cake was green.

I look at your pic and I see that the green contam. is growing on uncolonized substrate. You have to have the whole outside of the cake colonized before you can pop it out. If the outside surface wasnt completely colonized than the inside has an even longer way to go. Mycelium are good at fighting of contams. when it can fully colonize the cake inside and out. You left mold and bacteria a gift of food by leaving substrate surface area exposed like that and they always take advantage of it. But anyway, sorry it happened. Peace out.

I think people are missing the point here... MAIA is a very good and experienced grower... I am fairly certain that this was done as an example for less experienced growers.

You're just guessing but that's ok. Anyway, that's not what happened. What you see is a fresh birthed cake, the green developed while incubating, i normally like to let the cakes incubate even if they are contaminated (then i can do some "slide work" like this one), this is the case, that green area was the only spot that mycellium couldn't overun, green spreads much faster than mycellium and normally hides inside the substrate. I had two variables that recently changed in my grow process, first my house, i moved to a new one and then the Pressure Cooker, it's a new one. First variable, i might have a more infested house, i still don't know how the wind shafts work inside the place and i'm still trying to decide where my defenitive work area will be, although i like to be very clean, i know (from others experience) that a new house means new bad&ugly friends. I think the new PC can't do 15 psi, at least the food has to cook longer than the older one. I believe this was the culprit, a bad sterilization process leads to contams in random areas of the substrate, that was what happened.

Sorry, I dont know who is experienced and who isnt on here. I am fairly experienced but only recently happened upon this site about 2 months ago. I also have read more than a few posts done by people who dont do even the slightest amount of research and their questions reflect it. Using cooked meat as a substrate? I dug a hole in the ground, filled it with poo and straw, where are my shroomies? These are real posts, no joke! Sorry complete newbies, but there is huge amounts of credible research, ideas and methods at the click of a mouse button. You just have to spend the time reading and applying it. I trust the FAQs and links way more than a Forum reply, but thats my perogative. When I reply or add a post, I try to be as descriptive and basic as possible because I assume I'm going to be read by mostly newbies or beginners. I looked at the pic again, it still kinda looked like uncolonized brown sustrate around the green. But hey, you have been vouched for as a competent and experienced grower, so I guess I am wrong. My PC monitor isnt the best. This is a good post and everyone should take its message to heart.
