40 watt 6500k bulb
    #10009049 - 03/20/09 04:36 PM (14 years, 11 months ago)

so I had a 100 watt 6500k floressent and it was putting off way too much heat. does anyone think a 40 watt is too small? or should be just about right? have not checked the heat that it puts off yet we will see tonight but it was cool to the touch for a little bit when I turned it on so I'm thinking heatwise i'm in the ball park of where i want to be temp right now is 71 degrees 94% humidity.... PIN! PIN! PIN!

There is no reason why I would ever want to nor will I grow mushrooms containing psilocybin while in the USA.

I've always used a 15 watt CFL in the daylight range.  Doesnt put out any noticeable heat, and definitely plenty of light.

40 watts sounds huge for a CFL.

If anything running two 10 watt cfls to get rid of shadows would be your best bet.

Hes talking about the 40 watt fluorescents.  I had two in a shop light over my two greenhouses.

But the electrical demand on my room has made me downgrade to only using one bulb right now.  As long as you're fulfilling FAE and RH @ full colonization, try to put out as much 6500K light as you possibly can on a 12/12 schedule.

I've never seen a 100 watt fluorescent, unless it was 8 feet long high output tubes or commercial fixtures.  Don't confuse the stupid 'equivalent rating' to incandescent bulbs that they sometimes put on the package with actual wattage.  That's just put there so walmart shoppers will have some idea of how bright their bulb will be(pun intended).  The rest of us can look for the actual wattage.
