Tripping Scenery argument
    #10001201 - 03/19/09 01:29 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

Had a discussion with my brother before he left for work about the ideal tripping places, scenery, conditions etc.

I prefer lots of things going on, different things to look at, different colors, different lighting, various patterns, conflicting smoothness with rough patterns, cold/warm color clash etc.

He thinks you would get a more fantastic trip if you were in a solid color room, like an all white room, white floors, white walls, white ceilings, no windows... because it would cause an added sensory deprivation and allow your mind to work at much higher/distorted capacities that would eventually cause a mental absolute realization and send you into a completely different world.

My only response to him was, White walls? White Ceilings? No windows?  Don't worry man, you'll be there one day.
haha

What do you think are ideal tripping sceneries?

I completely agree with you.  White everything would just suck and seems prone to a mind-fuck.  I am a fan of nature tripping personally

I like to switch it up. I spent part of my last trip in a rave-like scenario and part of it in a nice comfortable chair in complete darkness. Both are nice, I wouldn't want to have just one for an entire trip.

Any of the following/combination...

-Nature
-smooth flowing water
-high up, good view
-lots of trees
-sunrise/set
-nice cloud formations
-Two types of scenery meeting (e.g. cliff and ocean, rock and valley...)
-large open space
-plenty of flowers/friendly wildlife
-vocal birds
-deep patterns

If you want that extra sensory deprivation, just close your eyes  I like to close my eyes and look up at the sun when tripping for a few seconds ; you get great visuals.

of course, scenery does also depend on what kind of trip you want because it can influence it..peaceful trips and inspirational trips can be influenced by varying scenery.

Yeah, that's kinda what I do... I usually get home from partying and trip out and wind up spending the first hour or two standing around bullshitting in the kitchen (somehow I always end up standing in the kitchen around bottles of booze), I'll walk around, stare at shit in the bathroom for a little bit, then after I'm done peaking, I turn the lights off, leave the low blue light of the computer screen on (in the living room) and just lay down on the couch and relax and view out drinking my last beer and smoking my last cigarette before I comfortably pass out (Never let myself come down all the way).

Hippie

Well, I usually like the 'rock and roll' partying out kind of tripping... despite what the "Shamans" say, I think booze works well with tripping and I don't follow anyone else's spiritual guidelines or any of that 'religious' stuff.

But, I am going camping this summer where there's high cliffs and a waterfall and lake.... as much as I'd hate to be a hippie  I really would like to trip out and sit around with nature for a change of pace.
I plan to take an enormous amount of mushrooms and do some real thinking out there.

Cheers

I like chilling during my trips, and those kind of places are....chill. I also like to swim when Im tripping.
This is my favorite trip spot.

FTW. Best trip ever in a place like that.

Also at the time there was a psytrance festival at the base of the mountain supplying a totally alien sonic landscape.

It was The proverbial Bomb.

Natural scenarios like that are great. Other than that, music and sound more than anything shape my trip, especially the closed-eye visuals.

Heh.  Don't get me wrong, I've hung out with some pretty awesome "hippies"... but these weren't the flowers in your hair, delusional self-righteous hysterically anti-everything peace nick pinko hippies.... one guy was 47 and the other was 51 and they were drinking, doing what the fuck they wanted, telling obscene offensive jokes & listening to Stones, Zeppelin & The velvet underground... really smart guys tho, they had their opinions about the corruption of the world, but they didn't get uptight about it, they were the later 70's pre-punk type hippies.
I hung out with 'em down in Florida, they were from Colorado I think.  Good times.

I just don't like the smug hippies that talk about love and brotherhood but will shoot you down and outcast you for not saying or doing the "right" things and seem to be more about Rules and codes than the regular society they're protesting against.

depends on what one wants from the trip: a deep introspective, learning experience (his idea), or a fun adventure (your idea).

i live on the edge of the yorkshire dales and i like to ride up to the limestone pavements with my buds and dose up there, staying away from cliffs etc.

i try to avoid doing it inside i find that can get too introverse and leads to paranoia and flip outs.

playing with tits is good when your tripping too, omn nom nommm

one idea ive been playing with is holding off smoking any weed for a day or two, then wake up at the crack off dawn one day and stay awake till gone midnight, then roll up a great big smelly one and smoke it, then just as your about to pass out drink a cup of magic tea. i have no idea if ud just sleep through it, have mental dreams, or wake up tripping like a mother fucker convinced your a penguin called dave who really can fly!

Depends on dosage, and who i am with.

Heroic doses the most i will go outside is onto the private property of my house, of a friends house.  I don't like going out in public or high sensory areas at this dose because its "sensory overload" which puts me in a state of total confusion, which leads to panic, which leads to bad vibes.

High dose, i may be good to travel through public.  But never spending much time in public interacting with people and such.  Will not talk to strangers unless they talk to me.  Usually the talking is being done amongst the trippers.

Regular doses im game for spending time in public.  Going disk golfing, ordering food from strangers.  I may not be on the ball, but im good to go when its time to have fun in the sun.

Low doses i like to have these when im solo, relax and read a book.  Do something nice and relaxing while i enjoy the body high and slight psychedelic mind set, not very many visuals or anything like that at this dose.
