I recently have invested in one and its a little unclear on when and where you are suppose to insert the spores? yes i am new to this so i would like to get the info i need to do it as well as i can and produce a nice crop.
Thank you for your time and advice. 88rocco

I have no idea, never used a kit. What does it come with, perhaps I could help direct you.

The MYG Mega-You-Grow™ mushroom kit contains:
1 Growing tray with a plastic dome lid 1 Half gallon jar of pre-sterilized grain for mushroom spawn 1 Burlap sack of shredded straw substrate 1 Bag of mushroom casing soil mix 1 Vial of mushroom casing starter 1 Large mixing bag 1 Plastic spray bottle with watering cap 1 Detailed growing instructions booklet
There is also online instruction but I didn't want to post the link cause I think its a non-sponsor.

do the jars have injection ports? they may also have a filter. The spores go into the jar, but make sure you flame the needle to red hot to sterilize it first.

it looks like it says it comes with a jar of mushroom spawn, so it will be like taking a pf jar and using it as a spawn for bulk. my guess is the jar is already inoculated so all u have to do is let it colonize the jar then follow a guide to putting it into a tray and casing it.

Don't colonize at 86F, like it says in the instructions... colonize in room temperature, 70-80F.
Insert 1-1.5cc of spore solution into the grain jar. When it is 1/3 colonized, shake it well, and let it be until full colonization.

Thats what I thought at first, but it said spores must be purchased separately, and that they are not included? but we are getting closer to answering my question what. I've gotten so far is that if the jar does need to be inoculated, then I'm looking at injecting the spores into the jar. Now my next question does the jar need to be inoculated or not?

awesome man thanks I found your info to be very helpful. and you say 1=1.5cc will take care of the whole half gallon jar? cause if so that would be amazing lol. :P

Yes it will. Just don't shake immediately after inoculation, wait until it's 20-30% colonized, then shake it real good, and then wait untill full colonization.
When you shake it, the mycelium will "disappear", but don't be alarmed by this, it will grow back in a few days, unless you had a contamination, in which case the jar would have been useless anyway.
So there's 2 reasons for shaking: to see if you have contams, and to speed up the colonization.
