3 questions on inoculating

I am about to inoculate 6 1/2 pint jars. I am using a cardboardbox with arm holes and saran wrap over the top as a glovebox. I plan on washing the glovebox out with soap and water but I dont think I should go over board with sanitation. I also plan on using an alcohol lamp.
1. When I inoculate a jar with syringe, I take of the tape. What if I put an alcohol soaked paper towel over the hole, and pierce the paper towel wiith the syringe as it enters the hole in the jar below it? That way NO contams can get in the hole while I inoculate.
2. Do I leave the tape off after inoculation? Doesnt this defeat the purpose of air getting into the jar?
3. How do I store the syringe for later jars? Do I just take the needle off and put it back in the bag?
Thanks!

might be easier to use a clear plastic tub with holes in it, then you can just take 70% alcohol and wipe it down (though cardboard box has been used many times with much success)
when you inoculate DONT take off the tape, you can innoc through a paper towel drenched in alcohol but that is over kill, after you finish put another layer of tape over the old one with a hole in it.

Any tape good? Scotch tape?
I really don't have any tools to cut through a rubbermaid bin.

look for 3m surgical tape, or 3m micropore type on the packaging it will probably look like this in the medical section of walmart/target/walgreens in the bandage section. It is a life saver when covering the jar lid holes in mycology

lol, sadly, cutting through a rubbermaid bin has probably been one of the biggest challenges in fungi growing i have yet to face, I tried everything, heating up a knife then slowly cutting, using a knife to saw at it, until i came up with the idea of using a soldering iron ><.

for cutting through tupperware/rubbermaid, I use a pocket knife with a serrated blade section at the bottom of the blade. It is hard to get started, but you can do it. Once you get to the serrated part, the plastic cuts very well. I find using anything hot tends to melt and create jagged areas of plastic. For me, it gets too messy.
But that is just how I do it

hmm, thanks for the ideas, they both use tons of smaller points to grind against the plastic, maybe that is the key when I have been largely trying to melt.
