Well ive done my first harvest, but my cakes seem dry and almost grayish, dont get me wrong, there are shrooms growing on the cakes but in very slow speed and the cakes seem very dry. I fan 2-3times a day and humidity is about 93% in the case. heres a pic from one of them

After you harvest this flush then dunk them to rehydrate them.

You should mist the cakes directly, it doesnt hurt pins or anything. they soak up the water and use it to make your mushrooms bigger. I do it EVERY time, most of my misting is on my cakes. This is what my pint cake looks like right now. Thats going to be over 10g dry first flush!! I also dunked and rolled this cake.

i have no contams, they get plenty of good air exchange though - and i used vermiculite because I had no perlite. If you can see it, my pinset was so dense the cake is drying out from the mushrooms pulling the water from the cake. Its a deep blue. I hosed it down last I checked on it.

no just spawn to bulk, if you want to innoc grains and do G2G (you can make 10 new jars with 1) then use agar, learn how to isolate and test isolates. innoc a grain jar with a proven isolate and get beautiful fruits.. if you feel like taking the time to learn that is.

Try to avoid getting big drops of water on your caps and try not to mist so much that you have standing water puddles on your cake.
But otherwise, yeah mist it right on. It doesn't hurt them at all.

yeah that is the next step, i was just wondering if the rye version works, i just want to test it because i have the sub at home. just raw rye and mix it with colonized cakes, cover with aluminimum foil and som holes, and wait for whole sub to colonize ?

i will do that, mist the cakes but try not getting driops on the caps, roger. Can i just poor water in the perlite and not mist at all ? will that keep humidity high? i have a heating mat under my box

i find MS has way too much variences. you can't do doses properly because of potency differences.

you don't need a heating mat. room temperature is fine. the mat will increase your contam rate. i usually avoid misting the caps, but i also let them sit out uncovered to dry off a bit after i mist them.
last i checked on them they grew and inch in 4 minutes when i removed the lid. i couldnt put it back on. i ended up extending it

You can spawn your cakes to a bulk substrate, like coco coir, corn cob, spent coffee, straw, horse manure and so on.
But if you try that with grains that will very likely contaminate.

hey spongiform, this is off topic sorry but how long do you have to wait for pf spawned to coir/coffee/verm to colonize fully if you know?

i also have a air pump 100l/h that is on 20min everyday and i mist about 1-2times a day and of course i fan manually one or twice a day. i got between 71.6 and 77F in the case
