I'm going to hope this is in jest. Rats have a sufficiently similar genetic make-up such that we can use them to model drug effects quite accurately before human testing. This is how we get estimated toxicity data for drugs no human has actually died from, as well as how we determine whether or not a drug is safe enough to warrant human testing.
