if you dry them, you dont have to cut them and you won't get that bruising. the substrate comes right off after they dry

Those look great, some really nice looking shrooms in there. I'm curious what the weight is too, and which tek did you use? Thanks! Nice job with the grow

Well to answer all your questions, first, I don't have a scale unfortunately. I wish I did. And the Tek I used is kind of my own. It may already exist but I didn't look it up. I took 2 half colonized full pint jars (because they stopped colonizing and I got impatient), And I broke all the mycelium into chunks in a bag. I then took the cake mold (one you use for molding layered cakes, like chocolate, vanilla etc. Not Mycelium cakes) that im using and I layered it with maybe a 1/4 inch of dry vermiculite.
Then I took the mycelium chunks and spread them out evening over top of the thin layer of Vermiculite. I then topped the chunks with brf substrate and let sit in my closet with tin foil on top, as I predicted the mycelium took over the substrate in only 1 day. So I then adopted the dunk and roll tek and used the same theory for this. I just flooded the cake mold with water, put tin foil on top, and put a heavy jar on top to keep the colonized disc if you will, of mycelium, weighted down into the water. 24 hours later I sprinkled dry Vermiculite on top to hold in the moisture.
Yeah so thats what I did. I just pretty much improvised because I lacked alot of the materials needed to make a casing. I think I got pretty good results though!
Me and some friends plan on doing some fresh ones in a few days so thats why I didn't dry them. They are in an airtight baggie in the fridge.
Thanks guys!

very tasty looking! I like to hear that you went your own way on the grow, just goes to show that going 'by the book' isn't always necessary!

i could very well be wrong but i thought air tight was a bad thing for fresh mushrooms and a paper bag would be better..... someone confirm or dismiss.....

Yes please. If im doing something wrong by all means tell me. I don't wanna fuck them up lol.
I just know when I buy White Button Mushrooms or Portabella from any supermarket, they are usually in those styrofoam things with plastic wrap sealing it tight. I just tried to mimic that procedure thinking it would work. But it cubies are different then yes please let me know.
And thanks for all the compliments guys, I appreciate everything. Everything I know I learned from this site.
