PNW ID, possibly active?
    #9809869 - 02/16/09 06:45 PM (15 years, 1 month ago)

These were in the shade of fallen trees in a logged area by my house, they look like active ones i have seen before, but im not sure.

Didnt want to pick them unless theyre active, but i got as close as i could for pics without getting ripped apart by stickerbushes.

Its Tubaria furfuracea because that is the worlds most common LBM and it has veil remnants along the cap margin in pic # 3.

I guess its only common on the west coast.

Its a lot like Psilocybe cyanescens except that it grows absolutely everywhere, has an orange stem, and isn't active.  Someone had it coming out of their doormat the other day.

Tubaria furfuracea are irritating to me for exactly that reason. it's like, every time i look at them i am momentarily fooled by the psilocybeyness. totally, uncool. if mushrooms were humans, i would kick their asses and call them posers.

I guess some people think it looks more like Galerina.  Looks spot on for T. furfuracea to me though, especially the upturned one in the second pic.
