This is what one of the areas that I hunt at looked like after Tropical Storm Fay went thru. The area that is water normally does NOT have water. I hiked thru knee deep fire ant water to find some cubes!
I can't wait to do it again in '09, 2010, 2011 etc!!! Come on Spring, come on rain!
Peace

Fire ant water?
see here in florida when it floods, espically around fields, it tends to disturbe the vast fire ant population of florida. When you get mass amounts of water (1-3ft) the ants will be forced from the ground into massive floating swarms of ants. The form a ball and continously move to keep alive, spending minutes at a time under the water....hiking through this is not really reccomended but if you really want those cubes .

Psilo_Subliminal, you hit that right on...I couldn't describe it better myself...I had never seen that much water on a pasture before, nor had I came across the massive floating balls of fire ants before either...had I known that's what I was going to encounter it may have changed my mine. My friend got the living shite bit out of him - I was a little more lucky. I wish I had taken a picture of the fuggers. I'll look for one online - it is truly amazing ability of their survival...although it sucks balls when they get on you. There were actually chains of the ants that stretched for 30 yards or more coming off the fire ant balls. Crazy stuff.

Here are a couple pictures to get a better idea...
Crazy stuff...and the thing was when I went after TS Fay - they were all over the field...you would walk along and all of a sudden whatever part of your body was touching the surface of the water it felt like it was on FIRE. Also whatever darn plants or twigs were sticking up out of the water - they had chains of fire ants on them as well. So if you brushed a twig you had to do the fire ant shuffle!
Crazy, crazy stuff for some water logged cubes.

I was completely distracted... moved, working too much, living in the city, etc. I'm easing my way back into it. I'll have some good stuff to post in here in 2009 Taking long breaks takes a toll, but it's not the first time I've skipped a season since I've been into this hobby.

Thanks for the replies!! I really would wade thru the pasture again if I had to do it over - just for the learning experience alone! Here's some of my friends 2008 pictures - I like them they are sex-ay!

Thanks Weiliiiii...I do have a pretty good stash of pictures from 2008!
This was after TS Fay...they are water logged but not as bad as some...these kind must be consumed rather quickly...haha

I'm psychic...
I said it "looks" potent. That's all.
Before people start with "theres no evidence that the size of the shroom determines how much psilocybin is in it".. there's also no evidence stating otherwise.
It looks potent, that's all.

I think the cubes in the second pic look rather old, actives that have been exposed to the elements longer tend to be far less potent than freshies.
