Need sport advice - seeking both physical and mental health

Hello fellas!
Its rare for me to post here because I never have much health issues besides my usual migraine.
I have been biking since a long time in my life and now I´m back on the track with a new bike, but I´d also like to choose another sport to practice because I don´t fancy gym so much its more like an ego freakshow.
I thought first of something that would connect mind and body such as Judo for example, but it could be Jiu-Jitsu or other oriental based fight/philosophy (self defense is a bonus). BTW I´m not totally lame on the subject, I already know some Judo/Jiu-Jistu, just thought about those because I´m more accquainted. I fear more brutal fights where you can lose your teeth or break your nose, I´m into something lighter.
Now that I´m into new parts of my life that I´m assuming more and more responsabilities I feel like I need a certain extra support, I cannot always rely on a little MJ and lots of common sense, sometimes my brains cannot digest everything that goes on and I get behind the machine. Maybe some therapy would come in hand also, I don´t know, but I`m open to it, as long as it doesn´t involves dr00gz.
I know I´m gonna get some serious advice here, thanks in advance.

I'm a strong advocate of the idea of personal development in general. You'll certainly never be bored again. There are a number of personal development blogs that give a lot of free information and help (www.stevepavlina.com is probably the biggest and best; www.zenhabits.net is also great.)
I would also recommend working out at home; I can't stand commercial gyms. You can do a lot with just bodyweight exercises, but kettlebells are a really incredible discovery for a lot of people.

Oddly, I have found swimming laps to be the best for this. I used to swim three miles a day. It becomes very meditative as the water tends to isolate you from the world. Coupled with the repetitive nature of the swim stroke, and you can find yourself covering a lot of distance both mentally and physically. Swimming is also very easy on your body compared to running, lifting, etc.

You can do all work outs, in the water. That you do on land...

Uh oh, more self-help cynicism.
Anything you do to improve yourself is self-help. Don't get hung up on labels.
Can you be more specific as to what you are looking for? Maybe our suggestions won't seem as dumb to you then.

I would recommend taking up Aikido, and I second WhiskeyClone's Kettlebell recommendation.
