Im about to follow large_dose coir tech but my pressure cooker is such crap, its the all american 21 quart and it doesnt come off, even when i put vasoline on.. so should I just use my other pressure cooker thats like a 7-10 psi and get the water hot? If I put vasoline around the edges on my all american the vasoline will melt down into the water, then i would have to hit it with a hammer to open it.. Sorry if this is confusing.. any suggestions?
Would vasoline effect the hot water I pour in?

I wouldnt recommend hitting it with a hammer, it might bend the metal, making your PC useless. There must be a problem preventing it from opening. Have you read the manual? are you letting the pressure in the PC drop before trying to open it?

You don't need to pressure cook coir for any reason. I just do it in a pillow case or in the stove in big pans. I have an all americain and it rocks so you might want to see if you still have a warentee card with the box, or stop being a cheap ass motha fucka and get a new seal. I understand if you don't have the money but they are like 10 bucks.

Hydrate your coco coir with hot water it can take anywhere from 10-30 mins depending on temps. Then boil up some water to 175 degrees F. Place coco coir in 175 degree water for 2 hours. Make sure the coco coir is in a paint strainer or something similar for easy collection. Then your done. You don't need to waste your time PCing anything when making a bulk sub like this. All you want to do is pasteurize your bulk.
Per brick of coco coir I use 1 gallon of water to hydrate and 2 gallons of water to pasteurize. Now remember thats per brick!

i just put coir in a big pot and add water and bring it to a boil. Once it boils I dump in in a calonder and let it cool and drain off. The steam allows a lot of the water to leave the coir and it brings the water content to just about perfect. There is no need to pc coir
