Man puts police dispatcher on hold to make a drug deal
February 3, 2009 - cleveland.com

Listen to 911 call:

CLEVELAND — A 20-year-old Cleveland man who called 9-1-1 Saturday night for help talked his way into City jail, police said.

He told a dispatcher that two men with guns were watching him about 10:40 p.m. near West 44th and Clark Avenue and hung up. The dispatcher called him back to get a description of the suspects. During the call, the man asked the dispatcher to hold on and made a drug deal, police said.

"What you need? A 10-pack? A 10-pack, alright," a voice can be heard saying on a recording of the call. He said the cost was $75. A 10-pack is slang for a bundle of heroin.

The dispatcher redirected police to the caller.

"He's in front of the Pit Stop selling drugs it seems like," the dispatcher tells officers.

Patrolmen Edward Lentz, James Skernivitz and James Simone found the man crossing the street but didn't find the gunmen. The officers found crack cocaine in his pants. The man didn't have any identification.

So the officers had the dispatcher call the number the man used to call for help. The man's phone rang. Simone believes the man expected the gunmen to rob him and steal the drugs. Dope dealers don't often call the police, he said.

"He asked for help," Simone said, laughing. "We came and arrested him. It's amazing."

The man had not been charged Monday night and was being held in the City Jail.

Crack and heroin dealers are SO fucking retarded it's not even funny. I'm beginning to believe that being a crack or heroin dealer is a mental disorder.

Dr :ronpaul: says to stop trying to treat the side-effects of big government and focus on the core issues. End the Federal Reserve/audit the gold reserves at Fort Knox, abolish the IRS, end all wars and occupancies, stop the building of an empire that will inevitably fail, and cut all unconstitutional federal programs. Put the power back in the peoples' hands by ending this nanny-state.

Nope, it's more a cultural disorder that puts ignorance and 'being' hard or 'yokel' on a level higher than that of proper cognitive function and information retention, very common in very urban and rural outposts, (although the guys across the pit stop in rural areas have shotguns, not pistols).

Many drug dealers of ANY other drug on street levels are apt to be so lacking in nuance. Search some of the marijuana and MDMA arrests on here.

Aside from that, this is utterly amazing. While that guy does not deserve to be locked up most likely, a mandatory return to middle-school remedial logistic-inspired classes would seem like a good idea. That dumbass.

"Help! 9-1-1? There's some guys with guns looking at me from across the street on bla-bla street, oh wait, they just want the smack I'm supposed to be selling them. My bad, I'm a little twacked out. Kindly disregard this call, thanks."

I want to know why the author of the article claims that 10-pack is a slang for heroin even though in this case, the 10-pack was slang for crack, why not just say a 10-pack is slang for crack...a 10-pack is generally slang for 10 units of any drug....so stupid.
