Some things happen to resemble other things.
I think it's a pretty cool comparison (yours, not mine); but keep in mind that the Universe picture is a simulation, not the real thing.

More like a false color simulation of the universe looks similar to a dyed cross section of a brain.
Doesnt seem amazing to me, after all lots of things look like each other. The cloud outside my house looks like a face.
Sorry about being such a negative naysayer!

Heres a nice slide show describing Mandelbrot's fractal universe theory.

maybe were in the brain of some thing; just a thought. and we all have a universe in our heads with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" and then those people all have a universe in their mind with people who look at the universe and say "this looks just like a Brian cell!" i guess it could go infinitely in each direction

I won't read too deep into this either, but I think a nice minimum inference I can take from this is that physics works much the same on the macro level as it does the micro. Bringing fractals into this, the only reason the universe doesn't currently look like a neuron is because there is a limit to the number of iterations to a fractal as it approaches 0.
I'll theorize right now that if we could picture matter at the quantum level, we would find a nice picture of the universe in one of it's first iterations after the big bang. The similarities would increase with each iteration up to a point and then they would decrease after a certain level of complexity is reached.
I really hope that made some sort of sense to somebody out there.

I dont think that is right. Does physics work the same at the macro and micro level? People assume that but it has not been shown has it?

kinda how ive always thought about it. ive also thought our univerise is just an atom within a larger universe, which goes on infinitely both ways, bigger and smaller. but that what we experience is everything. its the whole picture the big and the small all at once. hmm not sure if how i explained it was correct, little high right now.

Well, the strong and weak forces are not infinite, but the electromagnetic and gravitic forces extend infinitely.
The catch here is that even though the strong force is well, strong, that it's range is miniscule.
So I'm not sure if any of that effects what I said or not, but that's the basic info.

Can we just agree that this neat-looking pattern is simply what networks tend to look like?

maybe we are all just living in an organism's brain cell
probably not though, God made the universe
-------------------- "If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution - then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise." - Aldous Huxley GIVE ME OPIATES OR GIVE ME DEATH

Is the universe a network? If so, then what isnt a network?
