question on the syringe i use to transfer lc's to the grain
    #9695659 - 01/28/09 05:31 PM (15 years, 2 months ago)

Okay i made u 12 quart jars of rye berries they have sat since monday and i wanna inoculate them tonight before they go bad. the Lc's are ready to go but i am concerened on the sterileness of the syringe i use for innoculating,,,,,,

i use a turkey syringe, you can find them at jewel, dominicks, ect.. there really big. I have read you do not have to pc the syringe for steribility. i read you can just boil some water and then boil the syringe for 10 - 20 minutes...

my question are what is the best method? i do not mind pc'ing the syringe but cannot find anything that tells you how

Second, if boiling is just as good if not easier how many times should i boil the syringe? is once enough?

Fill it up with alcohol and let it sit for 5 minutes.  (Optional)

Rinse well with distilled water and boil for 15 minutes. Make sure that it can withstand the heat around 150 degrees and won't melt.
