    #9576144 - 01/09/09 09:42 AM (15 years, 2 months ago)

i am having problems with my 60/40 casing. i was wondering why the mycelium isnt as strong as a cake?  it seems too weak, and its not as white as i trought it would be.  did i do something wrong?    just little bits of myc pokes out the top  and it smells like feet  maybe its just the coir    i have it in my grow box and it has been 11 days and no fruit

is there anyone who can give me some tips to start fruiting?

myc looks faded  but it is fully colonized and there are branch like strands that might look like knots coming out from the casing mix.
any advice would be greatly appreciated

oh and the substrate is pulling away from the sides of my tubs

if it smells like feet it's probably bacteria contamination.  Not sure what you mean by this:

What kind of substrate are you working with here?  Did you crumble up PF cakes or go straight grain?

It can take upwards of two weeks to see fruits.  I'd say just keep an eye on it.  Up your FAE and wait.  Not much else you can do.

if your sub is pulling away from the sides you need to hydrate your tray. it is probably too dry and that is slowing pinning down.  Place tray under a gently running faucet and let over fill for 3-4 hours then drain off excess water by poking drain holes in tray or placing some flat and stiff overtop tray and tilting.  Then place back into FC.

Evolution is Lamarckism in disguise.  Adaptation never creates a new species or trait, but rather the new species/trait always existed within the parent DNA until circumstances allowed it to be activated.  For instance, every wolf has the DNA for poodles, but that DNA would never be revealed without man selectively breeding for it.

well  good news  i have fruits  just took alittle longer than expected
nice number of knots......  what i meant by the weak mycelium was that is was very stringy like a plant was growing in my casing  but i just kept up with the FAE and misting and it all came together

thx for the advice
