Rye Seed Pressure Cooking Issues

Ive been pressure cooking pint jars of rye seed and water the tops are metallic and have two holes in each and the lids are covered in tin foil, i have the pressure cooker filled a 1/4 ways full of water its an 8qt. pressure cooker, its limiter was a 10psi controller, so to compensate i added a little weight to it.
I cook at the desired psi for an hour and a half.
My Problem:
The seeds become very sticky and clump together also it is very moist inside the jars, there is a little water left over in the pressure cooker.
What i think is causing this: The grain i am using is called Rye "Grass" Seed and im wondering if there is a normal "Rye Seed", also ive been looking at other grains and im wondering if maybe another grain would be ideal.
Ive already spent the money on everything needed for the inoculation, and i am very determined to not waste that.
If there is a better method or advice on the method i am using, any help would be greatly appreciated

modifying pressure cookers is fucking dangerous dude. next time, pc for an extra half hour instead of adding weight to the cooker.

I only use about an inch of water in my pressure cooker. For clumping issues try adding some gypsum to your grain. Do this when the grain is dry then soak it for 12-24 hrs.
Edit. I should also add for moisture problems djmako7 is right. After my soak I boil for 5 or 10 minutes then strain my grain out. After that I lay it all out on my counter top and set a fan to blow all the steam off. You are best off doing this fast while the grain is still hot and steaming. Once the outside of the grain is dry you are good to go.

It's hard to diagnose your problem when you don't tell us how much seed and water you used, nor if you used gypsum in the mix or not.
Rye grass seed is one of the harder ones to get right, and not the best for starting out, but it does work well if you get it right. Here's how I prepare rye grass seed. You might be better off to get some rye berries and follow this grain tek. RR

Thanks for all of the great feedback, After a couple more hours on the forums i found that i have been missing crucial steps (dont use the mushrooms made easy video) I left out rinsing and straining and adding gypsum.
I am also considering changing to WBS? is this method better for begginers?
Thanks for all the support!

I think its from the same distant galaxy as verm....meaning the ONLY place you will find it is online. But at least with gypsum you can grind up drywall,go to a home improvement type store and pick up a scrap just sitting there and walk out with it,if anyone even looks at you funny on your way out just be like "I'm taking this OK" and they will not give a fuck less

Yep "Sheetrock" is for the most part just gypsum, and you can buy a giant box of it in powder form in the drywall section as well but it is enough to last you forever its like at least 50 lbs, just take a chunk home, peel the paper off the side and grind it up

that's awsome, but i was under the impression the other ingredients would contain anti-mold,fungal...something, but i guess it's just that new stuff they charge more for. is ph the only reason for adding gypsum, or am i way off here.

You shouldn't have a problem finding gypsum in pelet form for lawn care (like at Home Depot). How you crush it is you problem For adding water and grain directly to the jars before cooking simply dissolve the gypsum in your water first.
As for rye grass seed ... no, it isn't the same thing as Rye that most people will be talking about but you can use it. For some reason I've never been able to get it to colonize nearly as fast as other grains so I kindof gave up on it.
What's nice is you don't have to worry about soaking it; cooks fine with the water in the jar. I used to use that method with the Rye too (1 part grain 1 part water by weight + pinch of gypsum) but in jars it's hard to perfectly distribute the lower wet and higher dry grains.

Gypsum is in every garden center I've ever walked into. It's not for adjusting pH, because it has little effect. It adds calcium and sulfur, while nearly eliminating clumping.
Don't use distilled water for preparing grains for mushrooms. Use tap, river, lake, pond, or spring water.
If you missed it, I linked to both a rye grass seed tek and a rye grain tek above. RR
