Prepared popcorn for substrate

OK I followed to get the popcorn ready but I do not have my spores yet so my question is should I PC my jars right away or will the popcorn be OK if I just leave it in the jars with lids on and no holes until ready for spores. Should be tomorrow.

I'd go ahead and PC them and let them cool overnight.
Inoculate tomorrow when you get the spores.
Good luck!

I was going to use this lid set up http://www.fungifun.org/English/Polyfil ; will that be ok with the popcorn jars? Also I'm thinking that I just cover the lids with foil when I pc them is that correct?

Just a tip for next time, don't use popcorn. There are so many better grains available. Popcorn is right about at the bottom of the substrate list. Just one the reasons is due to the relatively large kernel size a pint jar of popcorn has no where near the same amount of mycelium as a pint jar of rye or wbs. This also creates a fewer number of inoc points when spawning.

Well I'm not to far along if that's the case I'll just ditch the popcorn and start a new grain. What one would you suggest I read rye could be a pain so would Wbs be better for me this is my first time and I plan on spawning to straw in a mono tub.

If it is your first go around, I would get rye berries if they are available to you.
A simple and proven tek to prepare rye soak for 24-36 hours in a diluted coffee water simmer for 20 minutes drain and let the water evaporate until the grains appear dry load jars 3/4 full and pc for 90 minutes
I would also ditch the straw. If you are going for ease of use and prep try a coir grow, or a coir mix with additives like (straw, manure, gypsum, coffee grounds, vermiculite). Just throw in any combination of those you like, I recommend using at least 20% verm though. Pasteurize and spawn with your rye.

does that mean it's good for spawning to bulk, or to more grain, as ive heard it colonizes fast?

You can still use your jars but next time around use Wild bird seed or rye berries..
