Hey, I was just wondering if anyone could give me tips on growing outdoors. Location, season, management, anything would be appreciated. I have been growing indoors and was just interested in moving it outdoors. Also I wanted to know if anyone has had any luck hunting for shrooms in central Arkansas?

Thanks Moe, that was useful, but now, do you know what seasons cubies will fruit outdoors. Do I need to wait til' the spring to start my stuff outdoors?

Well it all depends, Cubensis will not fruit below say 50 F, below this the mycelium stalls, I'm not sure exactly what temp it dies at, but I think it probably be around or below freezing. So, if you want to have a patch before winter, you have to estimate how long until the temps will stay at or below 50 degrees. (Yes, I know that there have been reports, especially on The Hawks Eye, that cubes will fruit in the 40's, but just to be on the safe side.....)

Perhaps cubies could survive the winters if the hole is dug deep enough? Cuz the earth usually stays aroudn a constant 60f all year round i thought. Just cause you have snow on top few inches of soil doesn't mean that 6" below its -10F. Any truth to this and has anyone had there patch survive a season?

I think that there are measures that can be taken to ensure that your patch survives the winter. You could put a couple of inches of mulch on top of your patch. But if I read and interpreted his question right, I think he was asking if he could make a patch and get fruits before this winter.

Well follow the correct steps to get them to pin which are light/small temp drop like to 70s or so and increased oxygen supply which should be fine since its outdoors and a lower relative humidity usually after a nice rain and you should have some friends to eat.
