Got a cool scale!

I'm so happy! I picked up an OHAUS 2610 gram triple beam balance scale for $20 at a pawn shop!
SCORE!!!!
I got almost no use for it but man I've wished for an accurate scale in the past like 3 times!
Here it is measuring plastic toys I will soon throw out.

Ttriple-beams are cool, but I think it's just an unnecessary hassle using them when they have low-cost accurate digi's nowadays. I'd stay away from ebay tho unless you know what you're looking for, cuz it's absolutely FILLED w/ cheapos.
oldwillknott.com has some really good scales at reasonable prices and he's also on ebay too.

I use to steel those scales from my school back in like 9th grade. I use to steel anything I could from school, fire extinguisher, bells, things off the teachers desk, pens from the office.

I find it hard to trust electronic stuff. Especially in the $20 range. I like to see gravity doing it's thing making stuff work. Not a cheapo scale fluttering between 4 and 5 grams.

Nope, for the crap I could see for $20 it was between 4 and 5 grams. I mean like crappy cooking scales.

That's why you get a name-brand 1 with a calibration weight. You can test/calibrate it whenever you want. You can also throw nickels on 1 by 1 to see if it goes up in exactly 5.0g increments. You can definitely get a decent digi for $20-30 nowadays. Any time I've tested a digi I've had, it's always been on point.

And why would you even bother repeating something like this, seriously? And the word is "steal" by the way.

Would you rather pay 65€ for a scale that shows 0,1g:s or 30€ for a scale that shows 0,01g:s?
My friend bought the cheaper one, and says it's good but it just sounds too fishy to me.

Hmmm, I've never heard that. They're listed even on the treasury website as being 5.000g. If you're getting a few extra hundredths like that, it's gotta be some type of other material on the nickel itself. Pennies have a varying weight before/after a certain year, but nickels have always been a straight 5.0g

Reality, that scale only goes to 100g. That is definitely a deciding factor when a jar weighs that empty. Just saying...
