holes in the jars
    #948391 - 10/10/02 04:51 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

Should the holes in jars be teped up or should the jars have so air intake. Or the a layer of foil on top of jars should do the trick?

I always tape the holes before boiling and do not use foil at all.

Comeon dog.
You need to make your holes and a center hole for pollyfill so that the air exchange is.
And then cover the top of the jar with foil.
When you innoculate, remove the foil and insert your needle hole for hole, covering each hole with tape as you innoculate through the hole.
Once you`ve done all four cover the lid with the tinfoil again.

I don't use polyfill either (at least not for jars). Filter disks and duct tape work just fine for me.

I had the same question, but it seems we're on a different page. I thought he meant after innoculation. You guys seem to be talking about sterilization. Either way, should I leave the tape on during cultivation?

Cultivation or incubation?..    Well if your talking incubation then it is not necessary.  I dont know how you would leave it on during cultivation????.. hmm
