Britain's latest religion
    #945903 - 10/09/02 01:57 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

The recently completed UK Census has discovered a new religion: Jedi Knights.

This is the official line (from the Home Office): "the Census does not provide recognition to any religion in the official statistics nor does it attempt to define religion. The list that you can see ... is merely a list of possible answers that people have been known to put in the box marked religion. As such, Jedi Knight is not officially recognised as a religion."

Code 896 is used to classify Jedi Knights.

I remember when the census came out and everyone was putting jedi knight as thier religion to see if they could get enough numbers to make it an official religion:D My local radio station here in vancouver canada was trying the same thing when our census came out. It was great.

I wanna create my own religion.

Rule #1: question everything.
we could go from there.

Yeah, this occured from an email which circulated around our country just before our census. It was just a bit of fun really, but I guess putting Jedi Knight is a bit more interesting than boring Islam, Christianity, blar blar blar etc.

The same circulation happened in Austraia, but the government threatened to fine anyone $1,000 who put that down as their religion as it would have been construed as being false information. Hmmm.
