computer virus
    #9454633 - 12/18/08 07:11 AM (15 years, 3 months ago)

my laptop got a virus on it last night...

I'm sitting here in my school's library while the guy is working on it, and I can't leave until he's finished.
It could take a couple hours...

hopefully it doesn't take that long... my poor laptop lol

didn't even get to it.
the site i usually use for movies didn't have a working version of rushmore, so I typed in something like "watch rushmore online" into google, and I guess one of the sites that I got linked to gave me the virus.

I had my firewall up and virus-scan running, and it somehow turned them off

i have lots of experience with this. what your computer has contracted is most likely Malware

there is some awesome freeware out there that may help with this. try Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware it has worked wonders for me many times and this is a better option then paying someone (because thats all they will probably do anyway)

if this doesnt work, there are many other options . . .

my computer has a large enough screen i use it as a TV so i watch all my movies + tv online.

its great because i get to watch movies and tv shows that arent even released yet as well as all cable shows etc that you would normally otherwise need a paid subscription for and all i have to do is pay for internet.

the "think before you click" rule definatly applies to this. there are so many coward asshatts out there that try to infect you w/ their little "virus" that they created in their parents basement.

most reliabe TV/movie source i have found on the net is:

www.surfthechannel.com

most trusted links from there are to:

megavideo
tudou
hulu

Thanks bro...

the laptop's all fixed up, just needed new anti-virus stuff (apparently my anti-virus thing I had on here was way old)

i used to use norton, but now i use mcafee,

just keep in mind that anti-virus even paid versions such as norton + mcafee wont do anything about Malware. i keep mine paid up to date and it wouldnt even detect the malicious scripts.

their tech support will even basically tell you that its your fault since you clicked it and simply refer you to their virus removal service that costs anywhere from 10 - 200$$ after you already paid for a 40$ service update. such crooks

their defense is, that the anti-virus prompts you before you click, so therefore it has done its job.

keep this  program in mind Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware for the future.

good luck
