Is steam sterilizing agar solution sufficient?

So I wanted to do some strain isolation over Christmas break and just got ahold of some MEA (malt extract agar) and petri dishes. I just realized though that I am without my pressure cooker. I was wondering if it would be possible to steam sterilize a jar of agar solution or if I'm going to have to wait until I get back to my pressure cooker to get started on this project.

Nonononono! Must be pressure cooked. It will grow ANYTHING you put on it.

Edit: Meaning if it's not sterilized it will grow lots of unwanted stuff.
