Oregon coast - trip location idea
    #9408362 - 12/10/08 06:38 PM (15 years, 3 months ago)

Greetings kindly souls,

Myself and a few fellow travelers are planning an escapade to the Oregon coast for an enlightened tripping experience. We are wanting to stay in a reasonably priced hotel on or pretty damn close to the beach.
I know that we have many members from the north west here, might anyone know of some glorious spots? Looking more for a decent area to locate ourselves more than the name of a hotel. North of Newport would be fortuitous. Rock pools.. would be an added bonus.

For some reason tripadvisor.com doesn't have a shroom setting section..

Cheerio

My boyfriend and I went to Cannon Beach last summer and it was beautiful. It was my first trip to the Pacific Ocean and to a beach so it was exciting either way. It is a little touristy though.

There are a lot of hotels on the beach but very expensive. Instead we stayed at a RV/campsite about half a mile away...much cheaper!

Depoe Bay has a spouting horn!  Lots of nice places to explore between there and Lincoln City.

I road tripped to Lincoln City for Memorial Day of this year, that was my first time to the Oregon coast and it was pretty fucking rad. Most of the hotels were full but we still found one for like $100 a night right across the street from the beach. It was cold but definitely worth it. Here's a picture

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus.
All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the
octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV.
But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns.
Also he got a race car.
Is any of this getting through to you?

Thanks for the suggestions, ended up staying in Manzanita, 15 miles or so south of Cannon Beach. Thinking of making it a regular occurrence. If anyone is thinking along the same lines, I can highly recommend the http://www.sunsetsurfocean.com esp the Budd building with spare room, balcony with sea views, kitchenette etc literally across the road from the ocean. Ideal for tripping through a sunset. Insanely cheap and very relaxed owners.
