TV Strike!

I propose that when America moves to the "H.D." standard in 2009 that the viewers go on a strike. The actors and writers want to strike. How about saying fuck you, we don't need to support your wasteful celebutard lifestyles anymore. Enough is enough. I am curious as to what would kind of affects it could have on the market if enough people stopped watching so much TV.

According to the A.C. Nielsen Co., the average American watches more than 4 hours of TV each day (or 28 hours/week, or 2 months of nonstop TV-watching per year). In a 65-year life, that person will have spent 9 years glued to the tube.

I agree that TV is bad. But so is the computer. Just as bad.
If not worse.
I know I spend more time in front of the computer than I do in front of the TV.

computers are not nearly as brainless as tv viewing. Especially if you use it to do creative shit.


Its all up to the user really. There is potential for greatness. With tv, you have one option: sit down, shut up, and watch what you're given.

But the TV has some creative uses too.
Like the history channel, discovery channel, and all the educational channels.

No way. On a computer I'm constantly reading and it's only things that I want to read. I don't get bombarded with advertisements (Adblock ftw) and I research topics that I'm interested in.

Computers are amazing tools for expanding your knowledge. TV is brainless garbage.

Those channels aren't really "creative", but learning is a good thing too....  :thumbup:
The internet can be a creative outlet, depending upon if you use it that way....

Those could be considered an acception, but I would live without them if I knew if it would knock a few greedy CEOs down a few notches off of their pedestals.

TV takes too much bunk. People were stupid before TV, they were just stupid outside or while knitting.

I could live without the TV only watch about an hour or so a day.
What would happen if there was no TV though?

I use my TV to watch movies, play Xbox, or make my monitor 42". I seldom watch TV.

i won't be upgrading my television

i had stopped watching for almost a year, but i've started again.  guess just trying to get in one my oldest past times before it's gone for good

It just says that even if a portion of that time was spent doing something productive that as people we would be better off. TV is not beneficial in many ways.
