Hard pretzles and cream cheese

Anyone else like that combo? I am working my way through a big ass bag of Rold Gold sourdough hard pretzles that I used to scoop up globs of Philly cream cheese. Right now I'm using plain CC, but sometimes I get the vegetable, or the scallion, or the lox spread. I also prefer Snyders of Hanover hard pretzles, but I couldn't find any yesterday. I learned about the pretzle/CC combo in college, but since then I've never seen anyone else eat this way, and some people find it weird. So who else likes to do this, and what kind of pretzles and CC do you use?

It is indeed the food of kings. I just wish I could get some good lox cream chees around here. You can't get good lox anything outside of NY.

I havent had a hard pretzel in tooooo long I like a brand called 'Herr's" they make a wicked good Mustard hard pretzel and 'Barvarian' Style - The Mustardy ones are good alone or with a spreadable cheese , such as Port Wine or the kind with Almonds in it.
As for Cream Cheese, i have to say that Philli's Onion & Chive on anything toasty is fantastic - Melba Toast is good - even Matzoa is better with it - I have only put Salsa Cheese on Pretzels - never cream cheese - one day I will try this combo.
And they said we didnt need a Cooking Forum - OoD

Grey's Papaya is good, but it's gotten too big and touresty. Actually, there is a hotdog place in Manhattan that is even better and cheaper. I forget what it's called, but it is in SOHO on the corner of Broadway and Spring St. You can get hotdogs for 80 cents, and a hamburger for $1.15. I used to go down there when I was near broke and get two burgers for $2.30 and load them up with about $5.00 worth of pickles and onions and lettuce and tomato on each one. That was good eating.

That makes total sense. I put cream cheese on bagels all the time, and a pretzel is a similar dough.
Cream cheese is so good. Like, for a sandwich, put a layer of cream cheese, peanuts or sunflower seeds, then beansprouts, then a real leafy lettuce, and then tomatoes, and its sooo good.
But I never have half the ingredients, so I end up having a pb+frito sandwhich most of the time.

Nothing beats veggie cream cheese on a toasted everything bagel. Make sure you let the bagel cool after you toast it or the CC will melt on the bagel when you spread it. This would be no good. CC has to be cold in your mouth when you eat it. That's part of its appeal.

I couldnt agree more. You gotta let it cool just long enough to prevent cream cheese from mwlting. Pro tip.
